Mariah Carey - Here For It All

Overall as a Mariah fan I'll say I'm a bit underwhelmed but I still think it's a better album than her weakest efforts and the highs are quite strong. None of the lows are catastrophic. This rates higher than MIAMTEC, Charmbracelet, and E=MC2 in my book, but is also nowhere near Caution, Memoirs and TEOM levels.

Track 1: it's ok. I find it fun, it's a vibe. Not the most creative song ever but I can survive it. I'm not upset by it, but it feels like she was trying to recreate a GTFO moment and that song is just iconic and perfect and nothing could top it.

Track 2: it's ok. Very retro and nostalgic. I see what she was trying to do but it's not really hitting the mark for me.

Track 3: one of the weaker tracks on the album, but it's also harmless.

Track 4: not a fan. Feels like tik tok trend chasing and she should know better by now.

Track 5: this is where the album finally picks up a bit. It's not a perfect song but it's quite good overall. And the key change is a nice surprise.

Track 6: one of the clear standouts. A great track with great lyrics that isn't about love too. Score!

Track 7: same as track 3

Track 8: a competent cover. It's fun and retro and vintage. Not her best, but it's decent. I find the song choice a bit bland though.

Track 9: gorgeous

Track 10: another standout. Nowhere close to her best ballads in her prime but a very solid effort for her at her current career stage and vocal range.

It's not my favourite Mariah album but you gotta respect her for releasing an album in her own terms.

I’ve sent the day listen to this album and I do have a few songs I actually love. As someone who is as close as possible to obtaining lamb status without actually becoming one, most of Mariah’s albums come off as half absolute bangers and half skips to me and this is no exception. Play This Song, Sugar Sweet, In Your Feelings, Nothing Is Impossible, My Love, Jesus I Do, and Here For It All are fantastic! Overall, it was my favorite album released yesterday lol.

you quoted 7/11 songs lol. Also I won't allow it is such a banger seriously?? Hands down the best track on the album imo. Like it should've been the single.

And you’re right, I’m listening to IWAI again and it’s a bop so this album is an 8/11 for me. Type Dangerous was definitely the wrong lead single for this album imo.
