she reportedly uses a loophole in Billboard's rules: Billboard limited variants only in artist's webstores so she drops her variants on Itunes/Amazon. she also sells her album for $4.99 there, while in the artist's webstore digital album cannot be cheaper than $7.99.

I'm so perched for Nicki's meltdown when she sees this go double plat in a week :lolly:

Is there some reason my LG7 isn't here? Has she died or something?

I find it so funny when artists care about their own first week sales enough to pull these tactics. Taylor, cardi, Nicki, Justin etc.

I get why it matters to teenage fans who dominate online spaces, but the GP would never even know how high they debut, the numbers and so on.

When did first week sales become such a big deal? I guess it coincides with the growth of stan twitter and how it’s kinda bled into other online spaces

After the first week albums don't really sell many copies unless you're Taylor nowadays so it helps with the certificates and their standing w/ their label I guess. Streaming hits do continue to move massive numbers tho, I think HMHAS is at about 12M+ copies which is wild for a streaming era album.
