LordByron28 1,110
I think between fan speculation and rumors, fans had been anticipating this song release for 6 months. After 6 months of hyping themselves up, what would’ve been a nice surprise and extension of the era turned into disappointment amongst many. Ultimately, singles are designed to get people to listen to the album, other music by her, attend tours, but merchandise, etc. They are the ones deemed most mass marketable. Also, so that she can continue creating art to her own vision with proper funding and marketing from her label and/or other companies. This era has generated 4 singles which she hasn’t been done since the BTW era in 2011 and we are fortunate given the current music scene that we have had so many singles so far. The Abracadabra music video required Mastercard funding, Die With A Smile required the joint effort of two different labels working together, and a fourth single wouldn’t have happened without Netflix’s investment. Anyway, I enjoy the song and find it fun and catchy. It and the other bonus tracks help round out the album and I’ve been enjoying it, the performances, music video, and show that it is on.

hamartia 1,402
I'll admit I was kind of meh on the song at first, but that's because I heard it for the first time with the music video lol. The song alone has grown on me, and it sounds better as part of the album imo I completely agree that, had it been on Mayhem all along, the reception wouldn't have been so negative - but tbh I also understand the knee jerk reaction over trying to release a "viral" song with a tiktok dance for the young'ens. Better to think of it as something fun and not the pinnacle of her creative output lol Edited Monday at 01:10 PM by hamartia

Remember they like Taylor Swift, KPop Demon Hunter, and Benson's Boone. Out of all of Renaissance, Bey released "Break My Soul." Decent track (including TDD), but the public likes something that is watered down. People are deeply unintelligent and basic-- it sounds harsh but it's the literal truth in 2025. Oh wow, you call people unintelligent and basic based on their taste in music? The way you speak of the "GP" and how "our taste" is differnet than theirs is disgustingly condescending and dividing. Acting all high and mighty for what? You are no different from the oh so stupid "GP" just because you think you have better taste in music. Honestly, if this site would give an annual award for the most delusional member, this comment would win it for you each year for all of eternity. It's hard to light a candle, easy to curse the dark instead.
Lemon Blood 188
I think people are being a bit harsh. Lyrically it’s not her best, but that doesn’t really matter. I love the chorus and the instrumental is fire. MAYHEM has thoroughly quenched my thirst for Gaga music and I’ll be satisfied for a while, so the fact that we got The Dead Dance was a bonus really 2

Nicklev 1,061
We all know that Mayhem and we, the fans, were robbed. From 4 singles we got DWAS and TDD. At this point I would've loved that ANY song from the album had taken one of those spots. DWAS was a strategic move, but I don't feel that song belongs to Mayhem. TDD was overly hyped, got us waiting for months and the video is lacking, I don't see a strong story line, is just footage of her walking in the dolls island. I don't see an iconic "dance" and I kinda dislike the song. What a waste having Perfect Celebrity or Shadow of a man.
