Lemme just say this: if Abracadabra was nominated in the main categories, Gaga would be sweeping.

So a big f*ck you to whoever thought DWAS was a better option.

I agree it was a weird decision. I'm wondering if it's because they think it's judged based on popularity rather than creativity and artistic direction. Because DWAS was a massive hit, but lets be honest, Abra was a far superior video

Do you really think they sit and look through nominees and decide who deserves the award?

they just give awards to anyone who is showing up, like there’s zero meaning

its a popularity contest, if DWAS doesn't win, abra wouldn't win either imo.

Plus, she was not really in attendance, we all know they rig everything to give the awards for people in attendance.

The melody that you choose can rescue you

This entire this is literally rigged and everybody knows it. Even if she submitted Abra, it would've won one of these fan-voted awards and the rest would be allocated to each nominated celeb who decided to show up.

I'm saying like? This is like for the 2012 Grammys when You & I and Judas kept getting submitted for awards over Born This Way and The Edge of Glory. :rip:

When she submitted Judas & You and I for ROTY and SOTY at the Grammys... and didn't submit Bad Romance for ROTY/SOTY either. I don't know how an A student can get an F so easily  :triggered:

I feel like someone, either Gaga’s team or the VMA’s assess the situation and they determined that the backlash they would receive if Abra was nominated and lost (because VMA would simply not cave in not giving such big categories to someone who isn’t in attendance or via livestream) was gonna be much more massive, hence they nominated DWAS because then it’s a “justified loss”. I’m pretty sure Gaga’s team was in on this and they agreed to run the story about submitting DWAS as long as Gaga got a major award (Artist) and the other two (which we still don’t know what they are). The fact the no one is reporting the other two wins but Gaga has three statues already shows they knew.

Had they gone with Abra it would have been a **** show for MTV to pick someone else in terms of optics. And I’m 1000% sure they were even courting Gaga for the Vanguard Award but she simply could not accept that one due to her tour schedule. This was the middle ground. She was the most nominated artist, gave her Artist of The Year which is basically the second most important award after Video, and then sprinkle a couple more awards to make up for snubbing the superior video.
