I rememember it was my first major meltdown as a fan cuz the video was delayed and then when it came out it was the first time inwas seriously disapointed cuz I thought it was so boring :enigma:

My first (more mild) meltdown tho was when Judas peaked at #10... Gaga slayed so hard those days that a song not entering top 5 was a flop by our fan base standards those days. When MTN hit its peak I nearly died of heartbreak and disbelief :toofunny:

One of the best pop songs I’ve ever heard :tony: The vocals, the lyrics, the instrumental, the saxophone… An easy 10/10.

Also, I write about it every other day but I never understood the hate the video received from the fans. It’s simply iconic. The colors, her styling, the beautiful shots, her energy, her moves, everything.

I can not picture the huge video some people mourn. Like it’s just not that kind of song. Marry The Night is beautiful in a chaotic angry way, Yoü And I as well, both are quite groovy, but The Edge Of Glory is just not that. It’s just beautiful beautiful. It’s poetry.

Such a disappointment of a music video! It's short, she uses just one outfit, no story, and is that AI they are using to animate the saxophone player? Disgusting! Gaga should do better!

*Sarcasm off*

It's hard to light a candle, easy to curse the dark instead.

When I heard her sing The Edge Of Glory on the Mayhem Ball I had literal tears in my eyes, that's what the song does to me. I don't listen to it often because for me it's not an easy listen, but surely one of the best songs she's written. Very emotional and epic.

I love the video and the song. I've only been a Gaga fan since 2019, so I wasn't in a position to be disappointed or otherwise when it came out in 2011.

I think she is exceptionally beautiful in this video, and I've written before about the poignancy of it. The story behind the song is obviously poignant in itself, but the Clarence angle is even more so. In the video she is young and beautiful and bursting with energy. Meanwhile Clarence just sits there playing his sax, the grizzled old veteran, seen it all, done it all, bought all the teeshirts, and if you like you can read into it the sense of a torch being passed from one generation to the next. The poignancy lies in the fact that Clarence died only a matter of weeks after the video was released. Little did he know as he was filming that he himself was on the edge of glory.
