I'm pretty sure every member here has albums and songs that they like more and others that they like less. It's not the first time that a project divides the fanbase and it's fine, it's really fine that you and me don't find the song and music video amazing unlike many fans here who loves it, but it doesn't mean that they are blindly following and supporting Gaga because I'm pretty sure there is at least one song and one album that they are not fans of.. So let's put everything is perspective, it's just a song. So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy 4

Monstermilo 4,631
literally everything about this song is great, except for the "dancin until im dead" repeat part....... that part completely ruins the song for me. its so juvenile, comes straight of a 80s teen halloween movie. OMonster 14,707
The song is better than the video, which I was not expecting. The song for me is mid-tier; the video is one of her worst. Genuinely surprised Tim Burton directed it - it does not have his stamp at all. I think the focus on dolls was a mistake; it doesn't make sense with the lyrics. And I think the location was very restrictive and 'lazy' (in that they used a tourist attraction as the backdrop for the video, instead of creating something new and bespoke). I think the video as a result is boring and visually repetitive. subtext / fantasy
Mizu723 394
I like the song and she looks gorgeous, but personally I’m quite disappointed with the use of AI in the video, especially at 1:55. The way the hands and face get distorted, the low resolution of the doll compared to the rest of the video... I hope her team doesn’t use it again. Godmatica 2,269
The song is a grower, but I didn’t expect the MV to be a grower too. At first I thought it was okay, but now I love it?
ModernEcstasy 9,057
Woken up and have done a complete 180 on the song overnight. Can’t stop listening now. I hope it catches on as we approach Halloween

AI really doesn’t *mean* anything, many genuine tools used in digital graphics have been lumped into the AI umbrella. Animating a still image has been possible with tools for decades even at a consumer level. It just typically looks not great compared to actually modeling and animating a 3D figure. Essentially at worst the animation of these dolls is equivalent to calling adding a smile to someone in FaceApp AI or Photoshops decades old content aware tool (as opposed to their new generative AI one). It’s not using an algorithm to generate *new* images, but rather alter an existing one.
Bebe 17,099
Sometimes I think you guys need to step away for a bit - like I remember when I used to be so active here and part of being super active on a forum dedicated to one artist is that you inevitably become so insanely hyper critical. It’s unavoidable when it’s the major focus point of discussion. This song dropped, I watched the video and I came back expecting everyone to be praising how incredible the song and video is and how it feels like everything this fanbase has been begging for since 2010 and instead I was shocked to see how critical some of you are No hate, no shade, I’ve been there - but girl sometimes you are not being “real” for your negativity and other people are not being “blind” sheep for enjoying the artist they love. Sometimes it’s actually the extreme negativity that’s delusional, it’s just harder to clock. 1 1

The dolls in the video were clearly there, but the animation of several of them was not done by a dedicated visual effects team. And if that were the case (as CarlosLlergo points out in YouTube comments), they clearly used some kind of AI to animate them, which is incredibly lazy and results in something visualy horrible and disappointing, in my opinion. And it bothers me especially coming from two artists like Burton and Gaga who have contributed so much to art.

I'd assume the doll effects are the way they are to evoke "bad" editing on horror films from past decades? Maybe thats a reach but lmao
