I view this as it follows: great talented minds like Tim and Gaga came up with the brilliant idea of filming the music video on The Island of The Dolls, which is... Mindblowing to say the least. But they obviously didn't count with a huge budget for a music video. We're in 2025, sadly. So that's why not a lot of things are happening. Again, they maximized their resources. I understand we all had high expectations in terms of, you know, being everything, everywhere, sparks all over the place. Still a huge music video. Idc

It’s no DWAS, Disease or Abracadabra but it does its job for a 4th single, song from à Netflix series.

The issue here is the lack of story line. In the end, it's just a video with some cool visuals but it doesn't add any value to the song.

This kinda reminds of the Stupid Love MV.

Hate to be negative but so far I’m not huge on the song after 3rd listen.. Maybe after a few days I’ll come around, really love the “cause when you killed me inside” part but I don’t know. I love it until it gets to the chorus and it just really annoys me, I think the fact that it’s for Wednesday doesn’t help because to me that cheapens it a little? The music video was cool, not my favourite aesthetic but that is a me problem. I’m so happy Gaga is giving us a proper era and I can’t tell you all how much I adore MAYHEM, her best album yet for me.
 

I just hope Gaga doesn’t abandon mv’s for the rest of MAYHEM because there is a stack of tracks that deserve so much

Nice, this has "hit" written all over it! Not what I expected but in a good way. A throwback to her synthpop roots but enough of something new with more of this disco route she's been doing with Mayhem. It most closely resembles Zombieboy which is totally a good thing. The way it ends sounds totally like its outro which is suggesting it could be the next single??? I know that sounds far-fetched and this is obviously going to be serve as a Halloween based single but it could still totally work in the colder months. As for the video, yes, it's simple but still compelling. The start of it is amazing with that eerie instrumental and the setting of the Island of the Dolls is perfect. The focus on the dance will hopefully encourage people to do TikTok dances and this could easily be on every Halloween playlist and will probably be for years to come. It's defintely mainstream enough that radio is going to love it as will the public. Yet it still is different and unique enough to her that it's unquestionably Gaga. The perfect ressurrection from the dead this album needed!

There's a lot of great things about the video The cinematic visuals, the smooth transitions from gaga to ariana, the STYLING , the fast cuts also adds to the grungy aesthetic, the  symbolism. etc. 

 

ofc im expressing my personal opinion, but im not going to unnecessarily qualify it by saying "in my opinion" since that's redundant. My personal opinion is the video is flat and boring. there aren't better adjectives, just ones you find maybe closer to yours? But I mean it very deliberately when I say that due to a number of factors including: shot comp, choreo, overall direction, cg, it is a very flat and boring video compared to her other dance-heavy videos. The styling is pretty good! but unfortunately it looks flat (unlike the single cover and promo shots where it looks beautiful and pops a lot). If you disagree, that's great! I think art conversations are fun and I'm not going to say you're dumb or tasteless or anything else mean or derogatory because, like me, this is your opinion. You like it. I'm glad you do!

 

I don't think COVID dramatically altered anything about this, though, as decisions like location, direction, etc. would have been decided well before they had to film with covid in mind (especially bearing in mind they had to find a time to shoot both Ariana and Gaga could so this had to have been planned waaay in advance).

On the other thread, there is posted scene from Wednesday using the song. I believe Netflix wants this scene to be referenced with music, not the MV. I think that is the reason why there is Gaga with one outfit, and in general there is little going on (the reveal to pyjamas?).
