After a few listens I actually like it, personally prefer it over S&S :p its a more fun and

Solid vocals, cute lyrics, wish she had more songs without Jack and in the vein of Tears and house tour, but overall its good. Hope she gives herself a bit more time for the next project though.

Might give it a listen, tho I’ve never managed to get through Short & Sweet…..  I do like the album art and the Madonna Sex book references, kinda wish the music was as ballsy.

Also, kinda funny how everyone here assumes Mayhem has any chance at Grammies when Kendrick is right there.

I’ve listened to the album about ten times through now.

standouts:

”Sugar Talking”

”Never Getting Laid”

”When Did You Get Hot?”

“Don’t Worry I’ll Make You Worry”

”Tears”

”House Tour”

It would’ve been nice to hear more tracks in line with Tears and House Tour. I don’t hate the album. I’ve actually enjoyed it but I realize it’s not for everyone. It feels like a nice companion piece to Short N Sweet.

I was really let down by it. I didn't think SnS was a masterpiece by any stretch but it was decent and more fun than this. As I predicted, this is a watered down version, whole thing sounds like a bunch of outtakes from that era. Note I said outtakes because they sound like they were too boring to have made it to the final version. This is the level of songs from a deluxe extended version for the fans but not stretched over a completely new album. How this was deemed good enough for a full-length studio album is baffling, unless its motivation is pure profit due to her current career peak, wanting to keep a good thing going. There is only 4 good songs - Sugar Talking, When Did You Get Hot?, Goodbye and Such a Funny Way. And WDYGH is the only one that's above average and one of them is a bonus track. Far too rushed and shows no growth from her last album as a result. I feel vindicated that I was right about how the cover art was controversial just to get people talking and wasn't subverted with a smart feminist message with the lyrics like her fans were claiming. That lyric video for Sugar Talking was perhaps even more disturbing than the cover art and it doesn't even match the lyrics.

If it isn't as successful, which seems apparent already, her team may well be tempted to push out another album just as quickly to cover for it but she needs to chill out and take time to create something good and fresher next time. There will be more singles, an extended tour and that track with Taylor coming later in the year and she's just too overexposed.
