I'm talking about total debut streams, MAYHEM did 45.3M in the first 24 hours, I think Sabrina will probably do a bit better. Reading the Debra stat makes me so mad. What a freaking smash... with 0 plays on the radio for months. I hate it here. 1

Kendrick’s primary experts -rap- are only 10%. He needs to capture votes across all other genres to win. If There is no Pop split, it will be harder for him. Ok and one more thing.... I think people may just namecheck Sabrina though for AOTY. It's a new album from a new artist with likely nice debut numbers. Unless people rip it to shreds, I think it's an easy check to make it in the Top 10. But I hope she misses
Psyduck 1,557
MAYHEM is 9.7/10 for me Man's Best Friend is probably 7/10 There's a lot of filler song but there are also songs with good melodies. The country element puts me off a bit. Ahmm, talking is a bit of a theme in the album. Lyrically, I think SnS is better. I wouldn't say MAYHEM is safe but it still depends on the GP demand for Sabrina cause if MBF would be more successful, who knows? keep on looking for Psyduck
nodandsmile 10,718
it's a really fun album, enjoyed it a lot but I kinda hope she ditches Jack Antonoff and Amy Allen next album, it's starting to get repetitive! 1

lilboyblue 5,328
It's actually very well-produced and Sabrina has some really strong stuff in here, but why does a lot of it sound like children's music? It's her phrasing in some places, I think. And I'm feeling like a prude not liking some of the sexual stuff lol Saving "Goodbye". Very ABBA! I think this might be a contender for AOTY if it gets a hit with "Tears". A lot of what I don't like about it I feel others may forgive if they like her a lot. Like random people from Instagram too lol... so rap/hip-hop representation is probably higher and maybe even those from an international audience which may help Bad Bunny a bit? Yes, I anticipate Pop will go down to maybe 26-25%. Hip Hop is currently at 10%, lets add maybe 13% tops, and Latin (Bad Bunnys genre) I think was like 3% as of 2024. I have to double check. Even with the additions its still quite a huge gap between pop. And the second and third largest pools are actually RnB (where Kendrick would sweep had Justin and The Weeknd not released) and shockingly, Jazz (which I hope Gaga will grab a few votes there). My data is from 2024, from the Academy's official demographic report btw, so I assume these are the ones who elected the 2025 winners. Naturally, this year probably added new members, but I dont think it will move the needle much. They dont add more than a few thousand members across all genres Edited Thursday at 06:16 PM by andy232000

But I hope she misses Yes, honestly the ONLY thing Sabrina has going for her is her name. Nominations are picked on October 3rd approximately. She only has 1 month to make this album AOTY worthy, and if she gets the nom, she goes back on tour (Shor n Sweet), by late October all the way to late November, so promoting the narrative that it even deserves AOTY will be hard, PLUS Taylor will eclipse everyone in October. If she gets the nom its more because people just assume she will be big, not because the music or era actually are good. I personally have already heard 4 tracks of the album an its SNS 2.0. It might not have much novelty in front of critics Edited Thursday at 06:14 PM by andy232000

Aurajandro 146
Currently on track 4 and all the songs so far sound like outtakes from SNS and suprised that Tears is the 2nd single since the melody is not that strong imo Edited Thursday at 06:37 PM by Aurajandro
andy232000 11,695
Ok, actually listening to this album now and it’s such a chop so far. On track 7 and only one song kinda grabbed my attention. All songs sound like SnS rejects and more so than that, like she was trying to replicate Please Please Please. There’s at least 3-4 songs that attempt this. Update: ok, finally finished and listened twice. It’s the worst release of the year for me. All songs follow some sort of musical-esque structure and I personally do not enjoy that format. Not even a good musical ala Wicked, more like a Disney Channel Original Teen Musical. Song wise, the only ones I liked were “Sugar Talking” and “When did you get hot?”, and these are not even close to the bops that SnS and EICS had. It’s also very country leaning, to the point like I feel this could very well be a Contemporary Country candidate, not a Pop Vocal Album candidate. Personally, never have I enjoyed it when a Pop Star attempts Country. Not with “Joanne”, not with “The Giver”, not with “Younger Now”. It’s just not a mix many people enjoy and based on Manchild’s reception I think many fans will be disappointed. Lyrically this album offers nothing new, and I must say I am actually disappointed that there are not many clever or astute lyrics, which Sabrina is known for. Melodically, this album is trying too hard to replicate the “Please Please Please” formula and since we’ve heard that before, it offers no new novelty. It’s also shockingly disappointing that Sabrina started this era making a point about being a “man’s best friend”, as a metaphor of how men treat women, only to end up making a breakup/horny album…again. There’s no satire, no clever or controversial takes about gender roles, only a bunch of songs about how she likes men, or how she doesn’t. Only Man Child actually offers some sort of cohesion with the albums tittle, but the rest falls short of that, much needed satire that would have justified the tittle, concept and especially that stereotype-perpetuating album cover. I gotta read the lyrics again to make sure I’m not missing some clever double entendres, but this is an album that doesn’t seem to be making a a compelling point about gender roles, which is what I expected from a metaphor like “man’s best friend”. This album’s debut will be huge based on Sabrina’s album and momentum alone, but the second and third week drops will be the real tellers. The general overlap with Short and Sweet, both sound wise and with its Era (Sabrina’s Shor and Sweet Tour hasn’t y even finished), will make sure that Man’s Best Friend is just the same album wrapped in a different name, not even sound. LadyEnigma 1,243
I think my fave is My Man on Willpower, I agree it feels like SNS B-sides kinda disappointed it's nothing new and kinda feels redundant at some points like she's doing Juno/PPP rehashes and lyrically it's the same stuff as SNS too. Bops are here BUT they kinda feel empty bc it's like I've heard it before and sometimes she's lowkey is giving no energyyy? no hate to Sabrina tho I still think this album is objectively well made just not as great as EICS/SNS. EDIT: Also Go Go Juice sounds almost IDENTICAL to Manchild to me, just different lyrics, like whoever produced this album rinsed and repeated (it was Antonoff wasn't it ) Edited Friday at 12:29 PM by LadyEnigma

I mean I get your point about this because Lana should have a couple already and they’ve made some questionable choices but Cardi kinda deserved that one and at the same time Nicki and Katy with 0 makes me happy.
