As corrupt and questionable as they are, I guess they are still a metric of respect and prestige in this business and a very important building block for artist reputation. At one point they were undeniably huge and meaningful, and that idiosyncrasy is not something that can be turned off or tore down in a matter of years. It would take decades of repeated offenses for The Grammys to truly lose their value. They can lose ratings and commercial relevance, but the status will always latch on and that's why some of us still hold some value towards them. But the more you learn about them the more you understand how political they can get. Regardless, its still an industry celebration, and I think we can all agree its always cool to see your favorite artist be celebrated.

I think Cardi B's grammy was actually a good merit. Lana being snubbed tho, that is questionable. But no need to put Cardi B down when she did have a hit of a rap album in that particular year.

I still think Kendrick is winning simply because that 27% of pop voters are not unique voters, some could prefer a rap nominee in the general field, thus Gaga could lose a good chunk, but mathematically, having Sabrina out of the race is advantageous for her and disadvantageous for Kendrick because most people have declared Pop as their expert genre and cognitive bias leads us to vote for what we feel more confident judging. 

They did add a ton of new members (thousands) during the year Cowboy Carter won. Like random people from Instagram too lol... so rap/hip-hop representation is probably higher and maybe even those from an international audience which may help Bad Bunny a bit?
