AI cannot learn independently. It needs initial sources in order for it to generate what we want. Generative AI achieves this by scouring through internet sources, image, and text references, which it takes from actual human being created work. Such a video cannot be made from the ether. The program will need to find Gaga’s image, her voice, cadence, as well as every other reference in order to make it seem like her. Essentially Ursula stealing Ariel’s voice. 
 

Not only that, but AI uses a lot of water to run, and mega data centers in the midwestern US, which have been sold to corporations and tech companies by politicians, is causing a depletion of drinking water and raising people’s electricity and water usage, all because people have deemed AI to be “inevitable.” It’s not exactly harmless.

My point is I don't think Gaga herself would actually mind a project like the OP is planning.

In fact, if the final result is something outstanding, it could go viral.

It's not black or white. There are many concerns, I agree, but it does depend on what the final result is imo. And, most importantly, that it is disclosed as AI-generated.

Yep, and that is incredibly disappointing and tragic. Gaga has been proven to be a hypocrite before, which just comes with being human, but I really which she gave it literally half-a-second more of a thought before charging $35 for a tour poster where dancers have 3 arms and the perspective is all wrong 🫠

I understand the issues but your cat pics are also stored on huge datacenters that also deplete resources.

My point is, the same can be said about many things.

I agree. I don’t think AI as a concept needs to be done away with as it could have many practical and legitimate uses (also push us past the Fermi Paradox as you said). I think the way it is currently being implemented and those behind AI companies do not have our or our planet’s best interests at heart, and I think it must be reevaluated and made more eco and human friendly.

Don't get me wrong, I agree we are starting badly, mostly because these companies are chasing the easy bucks and there's a bubble right now that will go burst soon IMO.

But I believe we will self correct in the future, much because what we have now isn't even real AI, we just have prediction models, when AGI becomes a reality, that's when things can start improving (or deteriorating ).
