Plastic Flower 5,060
Madonna - cute, not outstanding Like A Virgin - tragic, her very worst True Blue - this is where her discography starts Like A Prayer - overrated and you can't change my mind Erotica - perfect, In This Life is a career highlight Bedtime Stories - love the sound and vibes Ray Of Light - perfect, magnum opus Music - half great half forgettable American Life - love this mix of sounds from her COADF - perfect from beginning to end Hard Candy - hey at least it's fun MDNA - only about 3 or 4 good songs Rebel Heart - decent, too much filler tbh Madame X - good album, needed less vocal effects Drop it

Arcanum 5,159
The Bedtime Stories crucifixion is shocking. I find this album to be Madonna's first sonic reinvention and a successful blend to the status quo of the era in music. It's so easy listening and groovy that I find it the easiest to revisit. Maybe it wasn't career defining but she really came back from the dead with this one! "Inside of me" & "love tried to welcome me" are some of her most vulnerable tracks. "Sanctuary" & title track are clues of what a pop pioneer can do fusing genres. I Wantth your Love...I Wantth your Love. 2

Other than that my opinions aren't that different than yours.... I do like Erotica, Like A Prayer, and Ray of Light. American Life seemed too dark for me back then but yeah it proved ahead of its time. I think even the non memorable albums for me MDNA, Madame X, and Music get at least 3 of 5 stars for me though. There's never been an M album I just really disliked
ThisGuyTony 30,705
Madonna - standard 80’s pop sounds. 3/5 Like A Virgin - some cute bops but lots of skips. 2.5/5 True Blue - stronger vocals, production, and songwriting. 4/5 Like A Prayer - her most personal record of the 80’s. 5/5 Erotica - risk taking sound and direction (vocals feels colder and distant but it was intentional). 3/5 Bedtime Stories - pop infused with rnb of the time. has her worst song of all time (Take a Bore). 3.5/5 Ray of Light - masterful infusion of electronica, vocal harmonies, and lyricism. 5/5 Music - electronica with guitar mixed in. some cute moments but lots of throwaway tracks. 3/5 American Life - heavier electronic sounds mixed with guitar. Some off lyrical choices. 3/5 Confessions - dance pop perfection. 4.5/5 Hard Candy - musical trend of the time but some fun experimentation with song structure and melody. 3/5 MDNA - pop of its time with some lyrical crimes but some cute bops. 3/5 Rebel Heart - disjointed album with ballads, pop, and lyrics. Auto tune is out of control. 2.5/5 Madame X - her most experimental record of the decade. Very questionable lyrics and auto tune. 2.5/

I know this wasn't the assignment but I've been listening to Madonna for the last 25+ years and imo everything from Erotica - Hard Candy has minimal skips, if any. MDNA and after gets a little muddy but I always say, all Madonna albums always have moments of genius in them. TEANUS 15,086
Self-Titled - Weakest album. A few pop gems but lacking direction IMO. Like a Virgin - When she found an edge. More consistent sonically. Title track is one of the most daring singles of all time True Blue - Huge creative improvement. Singles are pop royalty. Still some filler Like a Prayer - Pop gold. The singles are pop royalty. Even the lesser known tracks are good Erotica - One of my favorite eras. Huge risk and her first step into music that was really “different”. Not a big fan of her ballads usually but I love Bad Girl Bedtime Stories - A good bit of filler. The singles are amazing though. Has to be respected for the title track alone though Ray of Light - Slightly overrated. Frozen and NRM are two of my fav Madge songs but there some snoozers on here IMO. Very cutting edge though Music - Kind of a mess but I love a lot of the songs. The country aesthetic is confusing to me but again, some of my fav Madge songs on here American Life - I really don’t get anything out of this album - shoot me Confessions On a Dance Floor - Pop gold. Hung Up, Jump, and Get Together are some of my faves. Love the tour too Hard Candy - When she started to dive into trend chasing and became a little cringey. Lots of gems tho - Miles Away, 4 Mins, etc. MDNA - Hit or miss album. Lots of filler in my opinion, the singles were a mess. I’m Addicted is a crazy banger though Rebel Heart - Kinda underrated tbh. A lot of the songs aren’t my cup of tea but I appreciate what she was going for. Devil Pray is one of my fave Madge songs. Madame X - I can’t get into a lot of the songs but I appreciate what she was going for. Crave is probably the only song I use. She needs to channel this kind of creative energy with the sonicscapes of ROL, Music, and COADF Edited August 19 by TEANUS British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS
MaybeKermit 4,966
ngl, seeing Hard Candy's cover that small made me blink twice lol, I thought it was ARTPOP's cover. Now I see why medonsters were attacking gaga for that cover in 2013

There's never been an M album I just really disliked I think to enjoy those old albums you had to be in the moment, or just simply be into the vintage sound.. but I grew up in the 2010s, when production is just different, and my ears and tastes are simply wired differently idk.. Maybe The Fame will sound as bland and as if it lacks bass to people living in the 2050s too? Because this is how these early Madonna albums sound like, whose production still sounds fresh.
