Why didn’t Gaga hit top 10 with Abra but Chappell and Sabrina do so easily

While it became a viral hit on social media...that oddly didnt translate to charts for some reason

Probably because most people on tictac only care for the 30 sec or however long soundbite and not the full song, so it doesn't count towards the random validation system of charts that we uphold so much? :volantis::huntyga:

girl compare gagas debut to chapells

gaga had 2 number one hits on the hot 100 and several top 10 hits during the first few years of her career

chappell cant even get a number one one on the hot 100.

the fact that gagas 17 years into her career getting number one songs and top 20 songs almost two decades into her career is amazing

sabrinas doing well but she will never impact the pop landscape the way gaga did.

It's a win in my book that my superstitious coworker thinks Gaga's a witch and is terrified of the song putting her in a trance, and she says there has been no way of escaping it for months :ally:

It's an issue with campy dance music as a whole. Abracadabra couldn't do it, Sports Car couldn't do it, and not a single one of Brats singles could do it. This is just the problem now.

Of course, no physicals has not helped things.

Whatever with Billboard Hot 100. Im just happy that Gaga continues to give us such cool dance songs....and still give amazing music videos. I think though that if for whatever reason Abra goes close to #1 spot...they will do a DWAS, and really put effort on making that happen.

I mean, this isn’t really true; all 3 had different, specific reasons for missing the Top 10, but the genre isn’t one of them. If it were, they wouldn’t have all reached the Top 10 of US Pop Radio - Sports Car (#2), Abra (#6), and 360 (#7).

Abracadabra missed the Top 10 because, quite simply, its 2 biggest weeks were unfortunately impacted by 1) missing 4 days of tracking (week 1), 2) competing against Kendrick’s SB boost (week 2). That’s it.

Sports Car probably could’ve also grabbed a couple of weeks in the top 10 had it not been for the SB boost, but like Charli, Tate is just not a huge name in the US. Radio and consistently high streams kept it stable in the Top 40 for months regardless.

Y’all have to remember the fact that social media nowadays keeps you in your little bubble. I mean I kept seeing Abra videos on tiktok but then when I asked random GP folks they said that they got literally zero of those.

It’s just that her team and label effed up yet another single’s chart peak with a midweek release. This nonsense strategy is the reason Judas barely got to top 10. I guess her team simply doesnt care about peaks at all.

It’s all a rigged and manipulated game. Every time I accidentally listen to radio, they play abra at least once. Either a cut version or the full thing

But I still think it would’ve benefited from having physicals and my collector brain needed this as well
