Post-Surgery Discussion (Keep up to date with Gaga's progress!)

"Talking to the surgeon yesterday," Carter said on Friday, "it was much more serious than what we thought."

Speaking from experience, I've heard surgeons say this fairly regularly. To be honest, you can't really gather any information from this statement other than it looked worse when they went inside than it did on Xrays and other films, which quite often is the case.

You see once they observe the internal environment, and are able to perform passive ROM (Range Of Motion) exercises intra-operatively, they can carefully witness how the joint is working under stress in different directions. The hip joint is a ball-in-socket, and has a wide, circumferential ROM. A certain degree of flexion, extension, and in some cases hyperextension/flexion. They probably observed that the tear is worse than they had imagined. Films only let you see certain planes. Nothing compares to active, live, 3D HD imagery.

It's fascinating and terrifying. I'm assuming they sutured the labrum together and approximated the tear edges using very, very dense fibrous nylon suture called Ethibond. All under a scope. :flutter:

She will be okay, but I think she has been silent in the recent days for good reason. Get well soon love <3

I'm starting to think she had one that was worse. When I was reading about the surgery there's one that requires them to put an "anchor" directly into the bone and like Toph mentioned, use an Ethibind. I'm thinking this is the type of tear she had.

I'm apologize if I upset people with what I explained, but all I wanted to get across to you is that from a surgical perspective, what happened with Gaga and her tear repair was routine and commonplace. I'm speaking from experience. I know I'm not her doctor...hell I'm a nurse...anyway I hope y'all feel better about it.

I don't think so. I think he is just talking about how Gaga has been working too hard for the past few years. I think her parents really worry about her. He wants her to work at a slower pace so she doesn't hurt herself physically or mentally.

Elton Jon said something about his concern for her health a while back. Kinda seems he would know better than most since he is a performer himself and he has first hand contact with Gaga.

There's no need to apologize. :) Thanks for posting what you knew.

I hope everything will be okay for her :ohno: I don't like that everyone's being so quiet about this, if Gaga was getting better i think we would had heard about this already, people usually want to share good news with others, but if something is wrong they usually want privacy... The fact that we don't get information neither from Gaga or her parents/staff/dancers (except what Troy has said) is indicating that the things are getting worse for her... :(

I doubt that's the case. I think she doesn't want the media all in her business over this situation. I'm sure either she or her team will release information as they seem appropriate. For now, it's entirely a waiting game. The way I see it--no news is good news.

I don't think so. She probably just wants privacy right now.
