The vaccination rate in the US is relatively high (70% is fully vaccinated. 81% got at least one shot), but the problem with the vaccines is twofold: the vaccines don’t offer sterilizing immunity (meaning that transmission and infection are still possible even when vaccinated) and that the vaccines only offer waning immunity at best (usually wears off around 5-6 months post vaccination). Also, there’s mounting evidence that because of how frequently COVID mutates that herd immunity from COVID isn’t really possible and that cumulative COVID infections are actually pretty bad for you.

I mean... here we get a yearly shot if we want to, and while full immunity is not achievable at this point, the level of immunity the available vaccines afford are enough to reduce risks associated wiht the disease to a minimum

Not really lol. Many vaccines only offer between 50-60% protection from infection for about 5-6 months post inoculation, so even if you were getting inoculated once a year (which most are not), you would have minimal coverage for about half a year. Not to mention that one of the ways the virus mutates is by becoming more immune evasive, so the vaccines become less effective the more people are spreading the virus. Best case scenario is the vaccines reduce hospitalizations, but do not reduce the risk of long term,  negative multi-systemic effects (the risk of which grows exponentially with each reinfection).

I went on Friday and thus far still feel completely fine, but I wouldn't be surprised, because any large indoor unmasked gathering puts people at risk for Covid and other illnesses.

Omg you got to go :bradley: how was it?!
