LISBON, July 31 (Reuters) - Portugal's centre-right government will consult the main political parties and conservative President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa about the potential recognition of a Palestinian state, Prime Minister Luis Montenegro said on Thursday.

Unlike neighbouring Spain, whose leftist government recognised Palestinian statehood in May 2024 alongside Ireland and Norway and called on other EU countries to do the same, Portugal has taken a more cautious approach, saying it wanted to work out a common position with other EU countries first.

The number is already not that different. And most of the countries that recognize one also recognize the other, it won't change much.

The only major nations not recognizing Palestine are the US and a few European countries

the first map shows Palestine recognition in green

this one Israel's ( the ones in red have cut ties with them or withdrew their recognition)

they've expressed that they're willing to recgonize Palestine under certain conditions. Not sure about Canada, but the UK used their recognition as a threat to Israel if a ceasefire is not reached.

Edit: Canada's conditions are demilitarization and free elections
