I hope she doesn’t run in 2028.

She had her chance.

Time for new blood who can beat Vance.

Might as well just giftwrap the white house for Republicans lmao

If Harris runs again she has my enthusiastic support but at the same time I'm lowkey tired of the same names over and over again

As much as I love AOC, I just don’t know if she’ll have the national support because she’s already so popular and very polarizing. Maybe if they had a newer, more unknown progressive run, they’d have a better chance.

I liked, supported, and voted for Kamala in 2024, but Dems desperately need to run someone who’s not an establishment, moderate Democrat. I’m so tired of the Republicans literally being Nazis while Dems feel like they need to placate them.

God I was nervous opening this thread considering all of Twitter appears to be excited about her presidency run. SHE SHOULD NOT RUN!

We all backed her cause she would be a mediocre president and the alternative was Trump lmaooo. She got decimated in the 2020 Primaries and I would hope she would again cause we actually need someone motivated and inspiring who will make a difference. Kamala is not that person.. also Trump literally obliterated her. She didn’t get a single swing state and some of the guaranteed blue states were too close imo (NJ comes to mind where she only got like 52% iirc)

I don't think anyone BUT a moderate (by American standards) Dem has a shot. A straight, white man at that.

AOC is needed in congress and truly congress is where most of the power lies. Leftists need to run up the numbers there 'cause as long as the president has a D next to their name, a leftist congress will ensure leftist policies get enacted.

Kamala tried running more moderate during the latter half of her campaign, and that's when she lost the most momentum. Dems have been trying to run moderate since 2016 and it's not working.

I think it's really about messaging and how candidates' policies are "marketed," for lack of a better term. I mean, it's not like any of Trump's policies are good and sound, but his supporters still like them because he's effective when it comes to messaging. Also, look at Zohran. I'm not saying NY is indicative of the US as a whole, but he was a dark horse in the race and ended up winning. I think as Republicans move more and more right, there needs to be an opposing force on the left that equally excites and energizes people. I just don't see a moderate Dem doing that in this political climate.

Well that's 'cause leftists were busy blaming the Biden admin for the genocide in Gaza (5 million+ 2020 Biden voters defected from Kamala and cited Gaza as the reason) so they had to find support somewhere else. Republicans' Trump fatigue was the next best thing they could prey on. The gamble didn't pay off 'cause Republican voters will always make terrible choices while leftists will always piss away decades of progress and the safety and lives of millions because of temporary misplaced outrage.

And sure, she could have thrown Biden under the bus and promised a completely new platform but then she risks pissing off the Dems that value party unity (and there are a lot of them – think "vote blue, no matter who" and how many times you hear it).

Anyway, moving farther right works for Republicans 'cause they're stupid and evil. I remain unconvinced that moving farther left will work for Dems on a national scale. "Socialist" is still a political slur to anyone who doesn't already vote Democrat.

It will absolutely work on local and state scales though. And like I said, if you run the numbers up, any "President ______ (D)" will be signing progressive policies into law.

Regardless, with how hated Trump is now, if Dems don't sleepwalk to a majority next year and the white house in 2028 it'll just prove how far gone this nation is from coast to coast.

I don't really see it as a Democrat problem anymore tbh. It's an American problem. Trump literally said he'd build concentration camps and we elected him anyway. No amount of savvy campaigning can fix that.

Her statement kind of implies she's done with elections. She's probably tired, I know I would be.

UPDATE:

Thankfully it seems like she is done with public office in general. 2028 might seem to be in the clear thankfully

The statement doesn't read like that at all. To me, this statement makes it more likely that she'll run. The fact that she said that for now her leadership and public service will not be in elected office says everything. Even if she doesn't run for president (which I find unlikely), I'd bet money on her running for CA governor or senate in the not too distant future.

All the leaks and internal speculation said she was either running for governor or president, and was just trying to decide which one. This statement suggests she picked the latter.
