I genuinely feel like ARTPOP act 2 would have a massive first streaming day and then would be given the same treatment as the first album after.

I think it would just be a cult classic and make no major chart impact

Are you talking about Dance Pop / Synth Pop or just Pop? Cause DWAS is Pop / AC and Pop was literally fast food in the mid to late 2010s. Lorde, Ed Sheeran, Taylor, etc. were huge contributors to the new minimalistic Pop sound then. Tgt with the huge influx of Hip-hop, they ruled the Billboard charts. The current #1 song right now "Ordinary" is a Pop record. Pop dipped slightly in popularity, but it will always be there.

Tbh, I'm very glad Hip-hop is finally declining. There are too many records with annoying loops, tons of auto-tune and lyrics just abt the shallowest things in life. Not a very good influence on a teenager tbh.

And yes, Country Pop is really taking over the charts in the US by storm ever since COVID. The huge comeback is largely due to the success of Morgan Wallen and his Dangerous album which actually never left the Top 20 until tdy, that's quite nuts! I think Billboard also just named it the #1 album of the 21st Century đź’€

Also most of Gaga's songs are actually Dance Pop, Synth Pop, Electronic. Some of it is also Pop, Soft Rock, Jazz.

Pop music as a whole currently has been stuck in this weird indie whisper girl era and WAAAY too much 2000s sampling...

Maybe one day the world will find a reason to dance again but that time isnt now I guess because Disease and Abra were c**k blocked by DWAS :smh:

DWAS is a quintessential pop ballad tho

It’s more a guitar driven soft rock ballad than “pop” in the way that OP and I meant.

obviously pop means popular and DWAS is popular . But in OP they’re talking about pop as a genre and being a dance/electronic/80s inspired genre and DWAS is none of those things

Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”

The influence of Lana del Rey is so big, I’m sorry but she turned out to be the darks horse.

Kinda this.

She really made lazy sleepy vibey yawn music become such a trend

I bloody hope it doesn’t, I’ve been recording a pop album in the last year. It would be just my luck if people were sick of it by the time I release it :traumatica:

Nah. It’s just it’s been an oddly quite summer. The MPG are barely moving and Sabrina went the country pop route which if we learned anything from Taylor, Americans go crazy over.
