Monsta217 218
So, Ive been seeing comments here and there of people who don't quite understand the Mayhem Ball's encore or that feel like it doesn't fit by choosing to do HBDYWM, with the random casual outfits, and each show having a unique song playing in the end instead of finishing with a bang performance like we are all used to with pretty much every artist. And I believe that Gaga chose to do it this way to try to bring back at least part of what Encores actually used to be back in the day, and heres why: Encores were meant to mean something more than just another pre-set part of the setlist like everyone has done the last few decades, they were meant to be a surprise, an extra reward for the audience, specially those audiences that were the loudest and clapped the most in the end. And they were also meant to feel like they weren't really a part of the show. Depending on the genre and the artist, Encores could be completely improvised, or they could be repeats of already played songs, or deep hits by the artist. And in some cases.. a random song on every show.. even if it didnt feel as polished because of lack of rehearsing and it being more improvised. Encores were meant to feel "outside of the show", outside of its story. (Specially in Opera settings). So, in my opinion, using How Bad Do You Want me, with a random super casual outfit that feels completely different from the aesthetic of the rest of the show, with no choreo or lighting, and to finish with a random, unique song in the back, is a combo of all those old things.. The story of The Art of Personal Chaos is over by that point, the credits are done, the Opera is over, but Gaga, already on her casual outfit for the day, (very reminiscent of most casual street outfits we have seen her wear), comes back to sing a fresh song she clearly loves but that didnt fit that well on the show's story, with no choreography, no special lighting, props, or gimmicks, (Giving it a feeling of it being improvised, like they were ready to go home) and then, she also gives the audience an extra personal treat so they can go home and have a unique memory that only that audience will have, "I was on the G.U.Y night!", "I got Sexxx Dreams for my show!".. And I love it tbh, it really feels like an Encore and not just a pre-set ending... I could be a pie for your zombie bite....

All of that, but also besides the act of five braining this: it must be such an amazing feeling and moment for her and the team to come back on stage after that entire show, now being able to look around not as a protagonist in a role, but as - and I know it sounds cheesy - humans. It also gives closing after a proper 36 club rave vibes. These last couple of ultra random tracks after a 10 hour techno set at Berghain, when all the sudden the vibe shifts, 95% of people have gone home and Supermodell by Ru Paul starts playing or Safety Dance Cant wait to see her in November in Berlin <3
Panchecco 17,626
The song also takes on a new meaning. After the big over the top artistic performance Gaga strips it all down and wipes her make up off and asks us "How bad fo you want ME?" meaning "how bad do you want me to be myself? Will you still love the girl behind the costumes?" I still don't like the song and think it's one of her worst in her discography but this performance made me appreciate it much more! angelduuh 487
I really liked it when she performed in Coachella and the other concerts. But this new meaning makes me like it even more.
