She was the one who made music videos eventful in the late 00s/early 10s. Both hardcore fans and casuals would expect her visual productions eagerly, because everyone knew it was going to be this huge thing. It was a big part of her appeal as an artist . And her last... SEVERAL releases just couldn't hold up to her legacy, for many reasons . 🩷 Jazz albums with modest visuals 🖤 Folk inspired album with modest visuals 🩷 Crime film video with modest visuals 🖤 ARTPOP was cut early and had a full cancelled video and only two visuals 🩷 Chromatica had only 3 videos, and out of those, only 1 became memorable And now Mayhem has, again, just three videos, and two of them are quite modest . I understand that, in the past, this situation was completely out of her control, and she couldn't do anything about it. Health issues, pandemic, label decisions, etc. But for Mayhem, all the stars seem alligned for her to be at the top of her game again, and she is, and she's delivering on every area, except for the videos, which in my opinion are a key element to her brand . I do not complain, because the live show was so cinematic and spectacular, that I'm honestly satisfied with that, she outdid herself. BUT, it is impossible not to think about the fact that the Mayhem experience could've been EVEN GREATER, with better music videos. Only Abracadabra was like... a true GAGA video so far, I wish she would make at least one more . But whatever, I'm ok with the show that we got. I actually really like all three videos for mayhem but I do agree that she was riding such a crest of goodwill and interest it would have been such a ripe time for her to release at least one more video if not several more. A high energy video for VIY, a celebratory feel good video for HBDYWM and a choreo heavy video for SOAM would have been amazing and I feel would have been very well received. I feel like at this point it's too late for Garden Of Eden, Vanish Into You and HBDUWM. The smartest (and most logical) move would be pushing Zombieboy with Wednesday and then releasing Dead Dance when Part 2 comes out with the alleged Zombieboy/Dead Dance music video they shot in Mexico to give Zombieboy one final push around that time and a strong start to Dead Dance I think that's the most realistic thing right now (if they really shot that music video) I don’t actually think it’s too late for VIY, HBDYWM or GOE. The fans may have exhausted their videos or these songs but the GO would be a fresh audience if they went out to radio and made a video for any of these songs. But let’s get real, it’s done. Pack it up, delicious. I love what we’ve gotten, but it’s just not enough or what the album deserves. Could have been the magnum opus, will end up being a small repeak. I still think this will be considered a significant milestone for her not just a small repeak.

The Fame, The Fame Monster, and Born This Way were so spectacular in terms of music videos. Specially after Paparazzi, she had this incredible streak of visually compelling, provocative, fun clips. Nobody was doing it like her. For ARTPOP I think she did her best, Applause and G.U.Y were great, I'm sure Do What U Want was crazy too, but I understand why she had to drop the era early. But that was the last time for me that she had this continuous stream of great videos. After that it was very hit or miss. I would say after G.U.Y. the only clips that felt really GAGA to me were Rain On Me and Abracadabra. The rest range from ok, to forgettable, for me. And I don't think it's a TERRIBLE thing, I understand no artist will ever be at the top of their game on all areas, all the time, etc. Many external factors play into having a great, high budget video, I understand that. But I felt like Mayhem was a great opportunity to return to her grandiose visual spectacles. SPECIALLY with Mayhem's gothic theme. But so far we got a Bruno Mars clip on a blue dress, and Disease which was an edgier Joanne clip. I feel like her album theme was not really exploited, or explored, in her videos this era at all, besides Abracadabra, and it would be a pity if we only got those three. Her "Fame" perfume commercial was far more beautiful and artistic than Disease and Die With A Smile put together, visually wise 😭. But whatever, at least we got the highly cinematic live show, that pretty much feels like a theatre play, I'm grateful for what we got. I think Disease very explicitly explores the duality themes of Mayhem at least as much as Abra, if not more! It basically introduces the “Mayhem” persona and the struggle between battling Gaga’s. I think it’s a brilliant video, but I also get that it doesn’t have chores and is prob a more uncomfortable watch for casual fans (not saying this about you), so wasn’t one of those crowd pleasing extravaganzas.

If she releases her HBDUWM performance in the Mayhem Ball as a music video, it would be a terrible decision. It doesn't even add something interesting to her videography. As far as I remember the Gypsy video would've been something very similar if not the same This type of video works for certain song for example Vanish Into You as she dedicates the song to her fans Not HBDUWM

But it's boring AF, IDGAF about the intended metaphors . I kept it silent during the release because everyone was happy, and I thought it was rude to crap on her new video, as we all waited so long for it, etc, but it's been enough, I can crap on it now . Disease bored me to death, visually, it's literally just her on two outfits, doing an interpretative dance on some street . I straight up prefer the Edge Of Glory video, it's only one outfit but at least it's Versace, and the hair and makeup were fun . I see the concept, I just don't think they made it visually compelling, or attractive. I also never complained because I think it was the director's fault, I think her work is just mediocre TBH . It also doesn't help that at the time, Instagram was recommending to me videos from this middle aged lady who talks to mud, rocks and many other inanimate objects, while dancing, and Disease's choreo quite frankly resembled her moves I can understand that a lot of people loved the video, but it was just uneventful to me, and certainly not on par with her work during Born This Way or even ARTPOP (visually wise of course). So that's the only frustration I have regarding this era, I think everything is beautiful except for the videos, and I wish we had at least 1 more, on theme, as dark and elegant as the live show. Because honestly her interview and red carpet looks, are more fun than what she wore on DWAS or Disease But like I said, I understand she's on tour, and she's not a machine. If we get nothing more, I'm fine with what she gave us already . HEART OF EVER-FROST
