andy232000 11,361
The short answer to this is no. The science behind it is a bit more intricate. Justine has a somewhat unfavorable relationship with the Grammys. He’s been nominated several times for his work on the Pop fields, even when his albums are considered flops. However, he has never actually won a Pop Grammy at all. His only three wins are at the Dance Pop Categories, RnB and country. Likewise, all of his wins are as a featured artist. This suggests the voters don’t really support him on his own. He’s only ever won with monster hits that were attached to other singers (and even Despacito lost all nominations back then). Moreover, during his last nomination he criticized the Grammys for moving his album to the Pop fields, when it’s RnB. He was vocal about feeling frustration that the Grammys often categorize you wherever they want and that while he appreciated the nom, that his insistent inclusion in the pop categories was a misrepresentation of his actual sound. Swag is a heavily RnB pop hybrid album, but it leans A LOT into it. If pop voters have never really liked Justin enough to give him a Grammy for his actual pop work, this one isn’t going to get it either. And lastly, there is a new Contemporary RnB Category, where this album would fit perfectly. It’s a category design precisely for albums that dabble in RnB but aren’t fully committed to that genre. I’m positive if they submit, they’ll place it here and not in the pop field. Justin will face off against The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar first before stealing votes from Gaga. If anything, if this record gets an AOTY nomination (unlikely cause it’s tanking with critics), it would help Gaga because it splits the RnB vote and Kendrick NEEDS to sweep that category to win. The less cross over votes he gets the better for Gaga.

StrawberryBlond 14,819
Their audiences are very different so right off the bat, we don't need to worry. Pop girls only really get compared to other pop girls. You never saw Gaga get compared unfavourably to Ed, The Weeknd, Drake, etc, even when they were on top and she wasn't. Gaga's biggest competition is with Sabrina, Billie, Taylor, Beyonce, and when Dua, Olivia and Ariana decide to come back. If Justin isn't releasing singles and music videos, that'll also impact his performance. As for the tour, that's the only place he could overtake because he always tours the entire world with every tour and does well over 100 dates. However, his Changes tour sold really badly and had to be cancelled due to the pandemic (which was a good excuse as it was doing so poorly) and his last 2 tours have resulted in mass cancellations (15 stadium dates cancelled for the Purpose tour and 81 mostly arena and stadium dates cancelled for the Justice tour) because of mental and physical health issues. With that in mind, it wouldn't surprise me if he cancels more shows and misses out on a huge chunk of money and after being let down multiple times, a lot of his fans may think paying to see him is too risky. And when it comes to Grammys, Justin's never been a favourite. He has extremely limited wins and never in major categories. I think the academy know they'd become a joke if he won AOTY. The academy is very particular when it comes to awarding people who started out as manufactured. That's why they'll rarely nominate boy and girl bands, no matter how successful they are and certainly won't let them win. 1D never even got nominated for a Grammy and Harry is the only member to get nominated for his solo work. And he's a massive anomaly. And as for album review score? He's currently at 63 with very mixed reviews. Gaga has nothing to worry about. Lord Mayhem 621
No...his album was a one time listen and those streams are gonna fall off so massively into 2nd week...theres no single material despite there being over 20 songs. A few are "standouts" but not for having any amazing quality...
