About 130.000 more Moldovan citizens are currently waiting to regain Romanian citizenship after submitting applications. Victor Chirilă also mentioned that employees are making efforts to accelerate the process of regaining Romanian citizenship. This means that more than half of the country's population—approximately 52.7%—either holds or is in the process of obtaining Romanian citizenship. With the exception of Vatican City, there is no other European country where more than half of the population holds the citizenship of another country.
