RAMROD 117,019
Billionaire Elon Musk said Saturday he is forming a third political party, after a dramatic falling out with Donald Trump, indicating he will make good on threats he made if the president’s domestic policy bill became law. “When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy,” Trump’s former “first buddy” said on his social media platform, X. “Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.” Musk, the largest individual donor to Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign and, until recently, a close adviser to the president who spearheaded his administration’s push to cut government waste, had criticized Trump’s “big beautiful bill” because of estimates that it would add trillions of dollars to the federal deficit. Musk’s criticism of the bill was the catalyst for a major falling out between the two men last month. That feud seemingly cooled after Musk expressed regret and deleted the most incendiary social media posts he made about Trump, but it reignited in the last several days as the bill neared passage. Trump signed the bill into law on Friday. It’s unclear to what extent Musk has taken steps to legally form the party, which would be required to register with the Federal Election Commission. The most recent FEC filings showed no indication that has happened. The world’s richest man has indicated he wants a party that is fiscally conservative and reins in spending but has offered few other details about what the party’s platform would be. Musk and Trump hold similar views on contemporary social issues. But Musk has argued the Republican policy agenda will increase the debt, calling it “debt slavery.” https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2025/07/05/politics/elon-musk-political-party (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ✧*:・゚ ᶠʳᵒⁿᵗ ᵗᵒʷᵃʳᵈ ᵉⁿᵉᵐʸ (*´艸`*) ♡♡♡
Lord Mayhem 3,425
I can imagine a dystopian future where we are subjects of a 2nd Civil War between Trump supporters and Elon Musk supporters now making up the Republican Party and New America Party... Emvee 8,826
Sounds like a bluff. Somehow the right wing always falls in line. They must know how this would only split the ring-wing vote. Third parties have no chance in the American system.

Ayesha Erotica 1,924
Elon is bitter that he could not buy Donald If he wants to rule a country, he can try with Georgia, Moldova, Nicaragua and buy votes there but America is a whole different level Many people tried before but failed, though Elon will be like the 358th or 3461st person on that looong list Reforming the American dual party system is something that is 99,99% only theoretically possible but not de facto Who knows how the world will be in 2075, but people will still complain about the dual party system and Republicans and Dems will still rule because it is hard if not impossible to change it First, you need to win in the 50 states each which requires local organization and Dems and Reps are already established there Then you have states with a party preference and you need to surpass that leading majority party as a newcomer Also some of Elons ideas exist already in a branch of Reps and even Dems (Dems actually had pro-Tesla car policies, while Reps did not want to support that by subventions and leave it to the market) who just do not rule right now, so he does have competition within the Reps and Dems somehow. And since they co-rule, Elon's party would not really bring new things that the 2 parties would not already be able to provide I was critical of the American system for a long time, and there are good reasons to remain critical, but I realized that it's no better in Europe, or rather, it leads to essentially the same results despite the multi-party system. And that the multi-party system is actually extremely similar in its results to the two-party system in America. Why? There are coalitions and oppositions in Europe. Coalitions consist of a club of two or more parties. You usually have a left-wing party that joins forces with a hardcore leftist party to govern, and then a conservative party that joins forces with a right-wing liberal party. The alliances of left and far-left, and conservative and right-wing liberal, ultimately lead to an alliance that is just as extremely similar as the Dems and Republicans. Essentially, the Dems and Republicans are umbrella parties, with different political persuasions that they must cover, and sometimes someone from one or the other faction governs. A third party could provide the president with a simple, relative majority (highly unlikely), but then there are the House and Senate, where simple majorities are not sufficient but absolute majorities necessary. That's where the Dems and Republicans come into play again, and all of them together would lead to a result very similar to the two-party system. First, the admissions system should be reformed so that everyone can participate and isn't bullied out like Bernie Sanders was. The Clinton clan had and possibly still has a kind of participant blockade, which the Clinton clan shouldn't have, no one should. And presidential candidates should always be chosen by the party voters, not like Kamala, who was unilaterally chosen by Biden and became the presidential candidate without ever being elected into that position by local voters, which was legal but highly undemocratic. gagzus 23,020
Although it’s a gamble, this could actually work in the left’s favour because it would split the votes for the right wing parties so they’d probably lose elections. Also off topic, I recently found out that in New York State unless you’re registered with one of the two parties competing for presidency you can’t vote in the primaries which is WILD to me
bionic 50,111
TRUMP is the attraction of the Republican Party. They will have an identity crisis without him.
