Do you like 143 even for a little bit?

I only listened to it because delusional people (on this site) were just absolutely positive she was about to have one of the most impressive comeback eras of all time.

And then they told me I was rude for pointing out ageism.

And then she flopped just like it (always) seemed like she was going to anyway

Edit: It doesn’t have anything memorable on it for me…it’s not necessarily the worst most unlistenable album ever, but it seems incredibly lazy and pointless for her to even have made.

There's a couple songs that are passable. Very generic, basic, and unimaginative but I can groove :music:

Wonder remains my favorite. It's a solid 6 or 7 out of 10 (by Katy standards)

basically this, there isn't a single remarkable song on this album. a bunch of stale reheated nachos. most songs aren't terrible but they're not good either and somehow being mediocre feels worse than being actually bad imo.

low-key, I love 143. It travel a lot for work and Sept/Oct was heavily occupied with listening to 143. I thought it was a fun, generic, basic but catchy pop album. My favorite tracks are Crush, All the Love, Nirvana, Truth, and Wonder.

I actually love how soulless and artificial it sounds.
I think its very valid to hate it for the sole fact that she collaborated with Dr. Luke amidst all the scandals surrounding him being a predator, and to make it worse.. she didn't give a ****.
I don't really like her other albums as they are not too different than 143, in my opinion.
I think all of her music is soulless and lacking personality, there is always a calculated attempt at trying to create a cultural shift or trend.
Musically, this is why I find 143 interesting and I actually do enjoy listening to it. It's a very amusing attempt at trying to create a cohesive, sonically experimental pop album with squeaky-clean production. The half-hearted melodies and simplicity makes it sound almost industrial and cold, which was definitely unintentional. The unintended elements of the album is why I enjoy it. It has no soul and no personality. Even with the attempts to create introspective spiritual lyrics, it just sounds like pinterest quotes over recycled house beats.
Now, if this was intended - like it was a critique on modern pop in the age of AI and tiktok, it would low-key be genius. But... it definitely wasn't. So, its very valid to hate this album.
It is not good.
Do I have it on vinyl? Yes.
Do I think people will revisit it with a different tune and perspective on its intentions? Yes.
I truly think the pop music sphere is surrounded by other music that is exactly the same as 143, but does not get the same criticism.
People were just ready to get on the Katy Perry hate train. The question is... who is next?
I just want to end this entry with one more question..is it a crush? making me blush?

I think Crush, Nirvana and Lifetimes are kinda catchy, the rest of the album is absolute garbage to me though

I do admit I really like Lifetimes (even tho is super basic) and also I'm His, He's Mine. There are some other songs that are ok. Honestly is not that terrible. Just very basic.

For a supposedly big  (and rich) A-list pop star like KT yes it bad. If this was from a less known artist it would be regarded as passable, generic with some cute tunes.

Take out that annoying child voice at the beginning of Wonder, and I'd LOVE the song. IHHM is decent, and I can listen to CRUSH when I want stupid, catchy pop. But that's it.
