booked some performance slots for her, get her on some popular YT channels, maybe headline a festival... to me, it sounds like she wanted to do more but the label was unhelpful and just left it at playlisting and posters

I've never heard a Miley song on my Spotify, yet her songs keep playing on my autoplay even when I blocked them and keep skipping them. Wasn't her latest single #1 on TTH and still couldn't stay on the Global chart?

She really needs to shut her big mouth and start promoting her own stuff. I've been wanting to see her in concert for a while, but she's just lazy and pretentious.

But if she doesn't want to promote her music, why would the label invest in promo? :icant: Make it make sense... I'm sure they paid a lot for playlisting but despite that she flopped hard :nooo: What else can they do if she doesn't want to sing her new songs?

if you watch the interview with zane lowe, she has a condition with her voice which also is the reason she sounds the way she does. But it means she can't sing as much because it damages the vocal chords.

The narrative being pushed that, because Miley doesn’t want to tour, she doesn’t deserve to have her music promoted is low key kinda ****ed up. Just say you don’t see artists as people honestly.

to try to make some money at least from the era, since like you said, the tour isn't what will make them money :messga:

Didn't she say she doesn’t even want to tour? :bear:

If the label is not expecting to make ANY ROI from this album, why waste more money promoting it when most revenue comes from touring? :awkney:

Also...promo alone doesn't guarantee hits or sales...the music has to be great too. The drastic 100 spot drop on the Billboard speaks volumes...the music was horrible and none of the singles were catchy let's be honest

Miley's labels have always been pretty inconsistent, and always also like to cash in when they can. Plastic Hearts, aside from Prisoner, barely got promotion but is many people's favorite from her. Dead Petz was self funded and a passion project at the time but I'm sure the label started taking a cut when she put it on streaming a couple years ago. I'm glad she seems to enjoy some artistic freedom but I'm sure it gets tiring when the label is so inconsistent.

In the same interview she also said that she "put a tour together like every other week " but touring isn't free, it's a business for everybody and she would have to play a certain number of concerts for it to make mathematical sense so the financial aspect is also the reason why she does not tour. the last time she was on tour 11 years ago, she didn't make any money and was struggling to sell tickets.

Ugh so sad and so true. The money is never from the streams, even when the streams are insanely high.

That doesn't even makes sense, ****ed up would be forbidden her to release music, thing that some labels to to their artists. Doing music signed to labels is a bussiness, is a industry, is not charity.

If you think that because you are feeling sorry for her you see her as "people"... well, that's condescending af, let's not play that game.

I honestly think that the touring thing is a non-factor here, while touring boasts an artist's catalog - it shouldn't factor in to the reception of the album release. Like others mentioned the label had done playlisting, financed (i think?) a whole ass visual album and released it theatrically which ultimately was the wrong move, took care of distribution deals etc.

I think she should shift the 'blame' to her management as they would be the ones responsible for planning the rollout, booking her for magazine covers, tv slots, alternative media and most importantly they would plan the singles releases. Like in the last 3 years maybe, album releases feel like must be there EVENTS, and I feel they kinda threw everything behind the theatrical film idea and called it a day, pop rollouts are interesting and fun again which generate discourse abd while I find something beautiful a career best for her, I believe the critical reception for it would've been better if the rollout itself was better.

I don't know if her mom is still her main management but whoever it is they cooked her.

The issue is.

In this era of the industry there's 2 types of promotion for an album.

Live performance - which she avoids for health reasons.

Playlisting - which she got.

So the confusion is, what does she want?

It's bringing pop and rock back together in the mainstream.

That's somethig Gaga always do. There's rock, blues and even gospel in her. Its always there. With her fu©king voice she transcends it in a cataclysmic way.

Miley has it also, but maybe the achy breaky past in her family prompts her now to dissolve it in the tiepid sweetened pop stuff she served us recently.

I loove miley's voice but she fu©king needs to unleash it's power. I think she's playing it way to safe rn.

Besides, in the interview about Plastic Hearts, before and after beeping it loudly, also about Blondie I didn't get clearly what she said (excuse my french !)

If someone is kind enough to transcribe it for me ?

So she does not want to do promo or tour, and she goes on vacations during album releases, so why is she complaining about her label?

Has she even performed any of the new songs live yet? In every promo appearance I’ve seen from this era, she’s just ended up singing “The Climb” for some reason.

I think this my problem with Miley.  The second one era is released she seems to move on and disown her previous work.  It makes her work seem less authentic
