lastpopicon 28,997
now we just need to ping @Bling to help with the DWAS shade and it's full circle. The melody that you choose can rescue you
Chromanne 1,299
When I realised how Disease performed I already had the feeling that DWAS would be added to LG7. I was just silent to not disappoint others. Anyway I really love the way how Blade of Grass transitioned to DWAS, I believe it lyrically fits the album very well. It’s such a chill driving car and singing along kinda song with some dope electric guitars and a cool bridge. I really don’t get the hate. I think Lovedrug and Don’t Call Tonight are just less surprising/chaotic, so once someone is has grown accustomed to those kinds of (amazing) songs on such a standout album, those straight forward more subtle pop songs cant help but seem a little flat by comparison. But actually they’d both be considered great songs on an average to good album.
bionic 49,103
Really to settle this dispute Gaga should just delete DWAS from the album and also from her discography stream bionic 1

HeAteMyh3art 417
The only thing I never understood abt MAYHEM is the transition from the disappointed dont call tonight and independent shadow of a man into the lovey dovey ballads, that's why DWAS feels off to me the debra
liamgaga 506
To be honest the mid section of the album was a grower for me (zombie boy killah don’t call tonight and lovedrug) were my least favourites but now lovedrug is one of my most played, definitely a grower. And I’ve even found myself having killah on repeat the last 2 weeks too!

People just wanted an angle to attacks DWAS and call gaga a sell out and other horrible things. Actually, we had Disease, the Abracadabra and Perfect Celebrity Paris snippets, Shadow Of A Man snippet, Garden of Eden leak, confirmation of a Gesaffelstein feature, and lots and lots of hints towards a darker gothic pop sound, so obviously fans were expecting a heavy-hitting, dark industrial album and were understandably confused when she announced that DWAS was gonna be added to the album due to it's sound and vibe not fitting in with what Gaga was teasing and what everyone was expecting. I was personally really excited when I found out DWAS was gonna be on the album (especially as the final song), cuz I was wondering how the album would change and shift from the heavy industrial dance stuff into this more retro soft rock. I honestly don't think it quite works on the album but it was defo a good marketing decision. Very underwhelming instrumentals, lyrics, vocals and melodies compared to the other tracks on the album. The middle part of the album is frustrating me so much
Togekiss 2,511
Lovedrug was an instant ear worm for me, and still at least in my top half. The REAL crime was relegating Kill for Love and CSTH to version exclusives. I didn’t mind for Love Me Right because it didn’t feel *quite* like it belonged with the rest of Chromatica, but the Mayhem bonus tracks are so perfect for it! building a daydream

This, I would have sooner put Don't call tonight and HBDYWM as bonuses personally cause the variant tracks suit the vibe and production far more. But then again, maybe putting amazing songs as bonuses was another marketing thing 😅

And ofc the small part of shadow of a man, but there was so many stuff going around at the time it was honestly hard as a fanbase to even know what was real or not (neon lights, mustang anyone? ) Gaga always said (even before the addition) that LG7 was "all over the place" (hence the name MAYHEM), i feel like people just played themselves with the expectations and blame gaga instead of themselves. Plus, this is her only feature on the album, other pop acts dilute their works for streams (see cowboy carter with 12 features), gaga only collabs with who she deems worthy, this was not a bruno gift, this was a hit that gaga gifted Bruno And yup, I agree it was a great decision to add it to the album, if anything, for commercial success that she 100% deserves.
