What Is The Thinking In Releasing 4th Single In Only A Few Countries?

I really thought cuz this era was going so well wed finally have our first album with 4+ singles since BTW era. Every album after Born this Way has only had 2 or 3

 

Now HBDUWM did get released as a single but only in a few countries... im wondering what is the thinking behind this? Why those specific Countries? Whats the strategy there? Its not the first time a few Countries randomly got an extra single (or a different one)

I think it’s like a test to see if it works in some countries, so then they know whether to release it everywhere. Just half guessing tho

correct, and mainly because releasing a single in the US requires a lot of promo that is costly so when you pilot it in a smaller country with lower promotional costs you can see if the song will resonate with audiences. the only flaw to that logic is that not all audiences will react to the song in the same way, but it's still a good way to test the waters i guess.

I’m not convinced, they’ve been doing that for 16 years and none of these partial releases ended happening world wide despite Eh Eh, ARUTW and INLA smashing where they were released.

Honestly I feel like a fourth single is not necessary (for the lack of a better word), especially if it’s HBDUWM, she’s about to start a looong tour, if she cannot put out new visuals for songs like Zombieboy or GOE, why bother releasing any of them as singles? 

Mayhem is still going strong when it comes to streaming numbers, these songs are not news for anyone 

I thought she would release a new MV to serve as a visual introduction for Mayhem Ball, since Abracadabra feels like a prelude to Art Of Personal Chaos

I said HBDUWM because I feel like a MV would be uninspired, I really wish we would go back to horror-inspired visuals like Disease with GOE, Zombie or even Killah

Plus Radio is stronger in some countries so radio singles still generate an uptick in sales/streams for the album/single like they used to do so. 

What we've seen is these regional releases primarily being just Radio playlisting pushes. And some have been timed in ways that look like deliberate pushes to sell concert tickets through raised awareness of Gaga.

More so than “testing the grounds”, in another country, it’s more because they probably have data that suggests certain public has embraced the song more, so they push it in those countries. It does work as a test for bigger markets, but geographical and demographic differences make it hard for it to be a 1:1 test. A song can do great in a very very small country just because, and that doesn’t mean it would work in the US.

I guarantee you the vast majority of the GP knows nothing on the album outside of Die With A Smile and Abracadabra

 

Fans and casual fans know album tracks well. Most people as a whole do not lol

This got me thinking... I remember seeing that Haus Labs is now available in Australia,NZ, and some countries in Southeast Asia. And then, Gaga has a video with Sephora about the Haus Labs revenue % or proceeds going to BTWF. What if, the music video for How Bad also promotes Sephora and Haus Labs, like a partnership... then now thinking that How Bad is in radio in those countries I mentioned above, it ties up? And where's that video with Sephora that shows Gaga?

Or am i just dreaming gothic dreams
