lastpopicon 28,504
About Tudum being a big deal I mean, the impact was limited but 3 outfits and one of the best televised performance of all time idc, for something she didn't even post on her socials and we only knew because of cryptic posts. 😭 The melody that you choose can rescue you

The only dark thing about it is the video.

Oriane 20,714
I always said that at some point she would make music that would showcase her vocals more to the GP and gain new listeners from that, and she did Joanne and ASIB. On that subject, I immediately said that ASIB would be a hit, as soon as it was announced. The audience loves a classic musical romance. People overstate how "dark pop" early Gaga was: The Fame was primarily disco/synth influenced, much like Mayhem, and it has multiple summery pop songs (Eh Eh, Summerboy, Boys Boys Boys). Paparazzi is an outlier. Born This Way is filled with joyous songs about love and self-acceptance (namely title track, Highway Unicorn, Bad Kids, The Queen). Songs like Bloody Mary and HML only make up a fourth of the record. TFM is the only project that truly fits the 'dark pop' branding, and it's also short, and it also still manages to include a down-to-earth rock ballad (Speechless). She's too versatile to make an album that's too committed to one sound/idea.

RochestrMonstr 3,058
There’s a post of me saying we were going to get another MV from Joanne less than 24 hours before John Wayne came out And then someone quoted me and asked if I was a fortune teller It was just a really good guess though! It's the atmosphere that is dark most of the time, and in Mayhem case Disease, Abracadabra, Killah, PC, ZB, SOAM and TB are dark in that sense I just think that I don't digest the presence of HBDWM, BOG, DCT, DWAS on the album, I don't think these songs have anything to do with the album and break what could a great Pop rock gothic album
