Why HBDUWM Is Best Choice For Single (In My Opinion)

Listen, I totally get that VIY is clearly the fan fav and long term streams kinda prove that too. However I think HBDUWM as a single is a better choice for a number of reasons and more likely to be a hit

 

#1 Its the most easily digestible and GP friendly track left on the album. VIY is more unique but may take a few more listens to grow on GP. 

 

#2 This would be the 3rd/4th single. Those are harder to become hits. If you go for something that may take some getting used to its not likely to take off because since album hype is largely gone, the GP will not give it several listens to let it grow on them. A song like HBDUWM is more likely to be liked immediately and has a better shot at being successful despite being a late single

 

#3 Disease and Abra were rather heavy and intense. Theres absolutely nothing wrong with releasing an easier to digest feel good song for the summer now. Shes already proven the album is diverse and unique and 1 more generic sounding song now after Disease and Abra will not take that away from album

 

I just wouldnt mind going for another solo hit that can further promote the album and get more ppl to give Gaga and Mayhem a further look. And I honestly think HBDUWM has a better shot at doing that than VIY despite the latter being the fan fav

I enjoyed HBDUWM more when all signs still pointed to VIY as a future single.

I've come to resent it a bit now though.

But regardless of which song she chooses to promote next- if any- the album stuck the landing & this has been a better era than her last several, imo.

Its the weakest of the potential single songs imo...but that usually means the more basic the better

Its not only about getting a #1 hit song, its also about the song being authentic to Gaga as an artist. If it was only about getting a hit song, she would end up like Katy Perry.

But I agree with you that in terms of being a hit song, HBDYWM is the better choice.

I completely disagree. With all the gains in Shazam/radio in Austrailia, how is How Bad faring in streams? Enough said.

Isnt that a little early to say? Was released as a single only like 2 weeks ago there

 

If anything radio picking it up and shazam tells me there is some positive reception cuz 3rd singles often dont get picked up at all period

 

It has no video rn, no live promo and radio just started playing it. I would not expect much of a change on Australian streams yet especially since 3rd singles tend to be slow ascenders and slow burners
