BUtterfield 8 41,325
Gerard Johnstone is enrolling in Monster High. The filmmaker, who broke out with M3GAN, is on board to direct the feature based on the Mattel brand. Universal is partnering with the toy company for the film, and in a piece of corporate synergy, Mattel and Universal are also teaming for a Monster High Skullector M3GAN Doll, in honor of Johnstone’s upcoming M3GAN 2.0, which arrives June 27. With M3GAN, Johnstone showed he could tap into the horrors of growing up, which will come in handy when taclking Monster High. The toy line debuted in 2010 and centered on the teenage children of monsters such as Dracula, Frankenstein and the Wolfman. It followed them as they grow up and deal with the trials and tribulations of high school. Source

Red 97,930
Are they aiming for a Barbie or Disney kind of live action? If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

It seems like neither Having Greta do Barbie made it clear that it would be more of a critical/feminist take, whereas here, they chose the director of a horror IP that's known for being slightly camp/unserious. So they probably want to go in that direction, leaning into Monster High's roots in horror, but in a way that still appeals to the queer audience.

Killa 17,346
The idea of horror seems cool. I thought Megan was such a subpar movie and hated the colours. Not excited at all with the director choice. It needs to give cunty and fashion
