Tbh even 5 cents are a pain in the ass I agree. But i totally get the perspective of ppl on extremely tight budgets where every bit counts not wanting stuff potentially rounded up 5 cents if they pay with cash.

 

I personally would be fine with getting rid of 5 cent coins too and having 10 cents as lowest denomination but I totally get resistance to it. It may be too early to do that.

 

But pennies for sure. When they got rid of them in Canada I was so happy. Annoying AF

Here in Canada (we got rid of pennies a few years ago) what happens is, if you're paying debit/credit the price is exact, like if it's 11.07 that what you pay. But if you're paying cash they round to the closest 5 cents, so you'd pay 11.10... but if you bill was 11.04, they'd round down, so if all basically evens out in the long run

it's 6.5% here in ohio.  i fear it will be rounded up to 10%

Here in Canada its rounded to whatever is nearest. 7 would become 5 but 8 would become 10. I think thats how most other Countries without 1C also do it

 

Also thats only if u pay cash. If u pay credit or debit as most ppl do these days, theres no rounding.

This makes sense as it costs more to produce these coins than their assigned value 

Plus, most people around the world dont pay with cash anymore...especially post-COVID
