The Chromatica era felt more like a joke than WDYDT and HBF, which served purpose to the plot of the film.

I do remember Diane Warren saying these songs were supposed to be funny, but they work for where Ally is with pop music at that point

I do wish HBF got to be the song featured in the snl scene in the movie rather than WDYDT. HBF is superior by a lot.
