the problem is they were running out of story ideas and the cast is probably both too old now to attract young audiences, too unavailable (some have other projects etc.) and also too expensive. it makes most sense to do a reboot and then bring the old cast members back as guest stars throughout the course of the show.

I grew up watching this show with my mom, when I was probably 8-10 years old, I would wake up in the middle of the night just to watch it before going to school. It was an obsession, just like Lady Gaga was. Desperate Housewives has been a huge source of inspiration for me. I'm so glad they're bringing it back, even if it’s not set in the present day.

Don't get me wrong, I was a massive fan of this show. But sometimes, things have to end for a reason - by the last season, they had already jumped the shark quite a lot... I'm not sure we need yet another revival of something millennials are nostalgic about.

Well you're so right.

I've been obsessed with The Walking Dead too and that show taught me that it’s better to give a story a proper ending than to let it slowly fade and turn into something fans no longer enjoy watching. Desperate Housewives became also repetitive to be honest with the mid-season tragedies... And with the ending it had, a direct continuation with the same actresses doesn’t really make sense. Still, I think revisiting that iconic street of Wisteria Lane but in the past could be something really cool maybe for a short period of time.

I don't think they can tho? Last words of Mary Alice (obviously, SPOILERS AHEAD) were that the girls wouldn't see each other ever again (as sad as that made me, it makes sense, this way they prevent unnecessary sequels without the original creators)

This community feeling and friendships were real before internet's apogee, political radicalization and pre-covid era. Now, this serie is specific to this era.
