I’ve denounced my Catholic upbringing because organized religion is all kinds of ****ed up, but honestly, I kinda liked Pope Francis. Considering the fact he was the head of the Catholic Church, he was fairly progressive, and revolutionary because of that. We can only hope that the next pope follows in his footsteps; however, I don’t think that’ll be the case. The world is becoming more conservative now and the Church isn’t exempt from that.

If anything, that mentality is like a pass for the people to act on violence, the greatest example is Trump/Republicans and other political figures leaning into more conservative views nowadays.

My condolences. Probably the most progressive pope ever. Hope The College of Cardinals had chosen his successor candidates who have mutual values before his passing.

Apparently, one of the cardinals in contention to become pope is a left-leaning Filipino and I hope to god he gets it  As a Filipino, it'd be great to see the first Asian pope who's also comparatively progressive.
