As someone who grew up on the space coast and has my windows rattled by rocket launches every day, this:

It’s an official space mission and she officially crossed Karman Line. You’re not an expert just because you watched couple of rockets from your window lmao

:smh:

I grew up with these things launching out of my back yard. People strapping themselves and their livelihoods onto thousands of pounds of explosives to expand human knowledge and explore our reality. I spent my childhood at the Kennedy Space Center, my free time obsessing over space travel, met dozens of astronauts, there are few things in this world I love as much as that noble pursuit.

"Watching a couple rockets from your window" doesn't begin to scratch the surface but thanks for being condescending just 'cause you felt insulted over me calling Katy a hasbeen :huntyga:

I won't apologize for being angry at idiotic celebrities and billionaires wasting millions of dollars worth of resources and hours and hours of actual experts' time for clicks, sh*ts and giggles, and barely over ten minutes of time over an imaginary line, the definition of which isn't even agreed upon by space and aeronautics agencies around the world.

This is nothing but a useless, ridiculous spectacle that not only bastardizes space exploration, it's being done under the guise of feminism by having an all female crew 'cause that's the only way they can even begin to call it anything other than what it is: a gigantic waste of time.

If they had sent a teacher, some scientists, or had some sentimental reason for showing someone the edge of our world, I might be down. But a handful of the rich and famous? That's nothing.

I will remain tilted.

🧡The blindfold's off my eyes, all I see for me is better days🧡

And she is an idiot. Sorry, being so out of touch with reality, saing such stupid things about "string theory and astrology" and going on "official space misssion" with no fckn reason, wasting milions of dolars in the thimes we live in. I'm happy that GP did not receive it well, and her legacy died a little bit more with this.

the lashings she is getting for this :icant:

and rightfully so, what actually was the point of this? i'm seeing "official space mission" but what was the mission? the rich can now safely float in space for a minute and watch the world burn from afar?

I’d recommend being cautious when speaking on topics outside your expertise, you never know when you’ll come across someone with formal training in the subject. It can come off as condescending to those who have dedicated years to studying these areas when someone with no background confidently asserts knowledge. The reactions you’re getting might just be a reflection of an echo chamber rather than genuine understanding.

Wow, even I'm shocked at the absolute slamming this whole thing got. It just amazes me how Katy can't seem to help herself being cringey. Taking a daisy into space because that's her daughter's name, kissing the ground upon landing, talking about how being in space connected her to love (not to the planet) and that daises are the perfect symbol of what she did because they're resilient (giving a shout-out to 2 album tracks from Smile) and putting this experience right up there with becoming a mother...it's hard to believe she's almost 40. Thing is, I think she believes that this is a great piece of her legacy and will have granted her amazing publicity yet it still seems that no matter what she does, she still lands flat on her face, like her Swish Swish video states. She went to space and still people won't give her props or applause. I'd feel sorry for her if she failed to remotely lack the self-awareness as to how pointless this "mission" actually was.

And the publicity this got. If it was barely spoken about, it would be different, but they are being covered all over the media for this and actually being called astronauts and the public ain't having it. The way all those women acted in that capsule, hugging and laughing and then the screaming as the parachute descended, it all served to make women look like vapid airheads who allow men to do all the work so they can have fun with their girlfriends for a little while. 11 minutes to be precise. It is no exaggeration to say that we've all had bowel movements that lasted longer than that.

After this ridiculous spectacle, I can now say that I'm no longer slightly salty that Katy got to space before Gaga. After the reaction from the public, I'm so glad she turned it down now. A glorified ferris wheel ride for the 1% is clearly all it ever would've been.
