Vanish into you chorus production

Vanish into You is one of the standouts of the album and will go down as one of the exceptional non-singles of Gagas career. In fact I would classify it in the same category as Replay and Dance in the Dark etc. however, to me, the musical instrumental in the chorus clashes with the exceptional melody of the chorus and it kinda annoys me because it really could be my favorite gagas best song in years if the production in the chorus was just a bit cleaner.

I'm not sure if its the drums or the electric guitar but something seems either too fast or too slow for the pace of the chorus. I feel like it sounds like one of the songs where you can tell that the instrumentals were ready before the lyrics and melody were written. Don't get me wrong though, I still love the chorus and the song like i said in the first paragraph but I feel like when people complain about mayhem being over produced vanish into you and disease comes to mind and its sad cuz vanish into you does not need all that

It's giving Bad Romance + Good Luck Babe in the best ways possible, the feelings I feel when I hear the song are something entirely new, it's an extraordinary experience...then the bridge hits and it just ascends me to heaven and above.

I think the production is what prevents it from becoming a true ballad. I personally like that part and enjoy how the production bleeds into a slightly slower beat once the chorus ends.

I don't hear what you mean  I guess the bass plucks could give the illusion of something not sitting right on top of something else tempo wise but really I just think the song has quite a few moving parts.

Also, who is saying Mayhem is overproduced?? 'Cause they're extremely wrong :air:

I actually see that as an intentional production choice that Gaga has done in some of her previous work - where she allows the vocal to hit a fraction of a second before the beat/synth/bass that usually would be totally in-sync in other pop music. It's a unique aspect of her work that I think you can hear on songs like LoveGame, Enigma, and even Bad Romance on the bridge. It draws attention to the vocal first but then maximizes the impact of the beat in like a club/ live music/ loud setting. I think that for this reason Vanish Into You will be one of the most exciting to hear live. Just my opinion but I do think it was a purposeful choice

Just listened to the instrumental to see if any of the layers sounded off, but I’m not hearing it. There is some syncopation between the guitar, melody, and kick drum but it works to my ears.

Mayhem production level is peak. A lot of details and layers. Like BTW ️. Something we lost in the ARTPOP and Chromatica albums

I didn't wanna take another shot at Chromatica but exactly. So glad she stepped away from that two dimensional sound to make music that actually has some body to it

I think the choppy synths and drums add that bounce to the song to make it groovier instead of being just a piano ballad

It's to give some kind of supernatural distortion sound, like ghost white noise? idk how to explain but u get it

As someone who is both a huge fan of the Push & Shove album (esp Settle Down) and Vanish into You, I can confirm.

I'm having flashbacks to when Gaga was so excited for Settle Down

i have the same feeling with gypsy but not vanishintoyou. but it's true that the song deserves a life full of live interpretations on a piano.
