Remembering Kija and Sloba and their Shallow Performance

There was a Serbian couple named Kija and Sloba.

They performed Shallow in a reality show which became an internet sensation in Serbia as that couple had some insane backstory that I don't remember now. People started to look for Shallow in YouTube after this. Although Shallow debuted with only over 2 million views on its first day on YouTube, I clearly remember that the song started gaining over 4-5 million views daily after their performance. Almost the entire comment section appeared to be in Serbian language with these two names - Kija and Sloba, except there were a few occasional comments saying "Congratulations, you've found an English comment". That month alone, the song garnered 100 million views. Then, Shallow started to go much viral all over the world.

In addition to that, Shallow was also getting attention for being a potential contestant (and even as the potential winner) of Academy Awards for Best Original Song. After winning an Oscar, it went straight to #1 on Billboard Hot 100, her first since Born This Way.

I'd like to remember the couple for helping the song go viral, not saying that we owe them or they solely contributed to Shallow's success. But they were able to make a sheer presence in the process of Shallow's exposure to the GP.
