Is Viagogo reliable?

According to what I read on their website, they make sure the tickets are official and sellers don't receive their money until the buyer has attended the show. This type of management was probably launched after what happened at the Madrid Monster Ball in 2010, when many falsified tickets were sold. So, I guess the "good thing" after that event (don't take me wrong, that situation was awful), is that they made sure it wouldn't happen again.

What are your opinions on the website? (I'm not asking about your opinions on the morality of such websites). Has any of you had any bad experiences with it? Are they reliable?

i think it's really up to chance with viagogo, personally i purchased a ticket for The Eras Tour in Singapore and my ticket turned out to be valid

at the same time, many others also purchased from viagogo which resulted in them not being able to enter due to multiple duplicate entries before them or getting escorted out mid-concert, again due to duplicate tickets being scanned

I was just one of the lucky ones, so I would say there's still a risk of your ticket being invalid / a scam

i've both sold and purchased tickets on there and have never ever had any issues. the fact that the seller doesn't receive any of the money until the event is over gives me enough security, personally.

Well, I got Lana tickets for her UK stadium shows in June and honestly, I was so naive because I didn't realise until today, when I saw this thread and did my research, that viagogo was even a reselling site. :awkney: My friend just WhatsApped me the link to get tickets there, so that's what I did and I naturally assumed all this time that it was just another site like ticketmaster. I did think it was very risky that apparently the tickets aren't being sent until 3 days before the show but I suppose this is normal. So, it's all resold tickets? And the sellers don't get paid until you've attended the show? That's a bit better and I'm a bit cheered to see that almost all of you who have posted so far have had good experiences but it doesn't change the fact that when you look up the controversies this company has endured that they don't give you pause. Apparently there are rules in place to maintain consumer care and it does say that if my tickets don't arrive on time that I'll get a refund as I'm protected under their guarantee but even so...getting refunded doesn't erase the fact that I can't get into the show. Fingers crossed I get them in time and they're legit.

yes, imagine you're at the gates and the ticket is invalid or they don't even send it, I don't know what I would do in that situation

Does the Singapore Viagogo work differently, though? Because I can't see the point of trying to scam people if they won't eventually get paid :oprah:. As I said before (at least on Viagogo Spain), the seller doesn't receive the money until you've attended the show. If you report you haven't or that the tickets were fake, the scammer won't get any money and according to the website, they'll ban the user and even legally act against that "seller".

Also, as far as I know, the tickets will be sent via Ticketmaster this time, to apparently avoid duplicate tickets.

Same experience here.

Also bought Eras tour tickets & Ice Nine Kills tickets and both went swimmingly.

It went amazingly. Even though I was due to get the tickets 3 days before, the seller sent them 3 days early. It tells you the seller's full name in the email to let you know they're ready. All I had to do was accept the ticketmaster transfer via a link in my email. It's so quick and easy. The QR code came up super dark and clear with an active glowing square around it so I knew it was the real code and not a photo of it. I didn't bother installing Google Wallet (I didn't have a problem with internet connection) and had it locked and loaded for approaching the gate. The security guard took my phone (after it got taken out its case) and placed in a device that was like a chute and it beeped and lit up green. He dropped the phone on its exit from the chute (thank God it was ok but I had to restrain myself) and my friend's was accepted immediately afterwards. It was so easy I didn't even take in the fact they got accepted til hours later. And once you're inside, you won't need to show it again. I was so glad that all that worry was over nothing.

The seller has no incentive to send you fake tickets. I looked into all the T&C's and the sellers don't get paid until 5-8 business days after the concert. This is the time you have to complain if you don't get in and the sooner you notify them, the more likely you are to be refunded. If you get in, you have to take no more action. Sellers won't get their money if you don't get in so they have to be legit. I'd suggest looking for reasonably priced tickets, they're more likely to be from genuine sellers who aren't looking to make massive profit. The good thing is, the description on Lana's concert states that resold tickets from other sites aren't allowed (including in the description when I accepted the transfer) and I got in. For Gaga, there is no mention of any restrictions around buying from resale sites so I think you should be fine. What it all comes down to is that security doesn't know that your ticket is from a reseller, it doesn't say anything on it that mentions where the ticket originated. As long as the ticket was purchased legally by the seller, it should work. It's no different to someone buying you a ticket for your birthday and then transferring it to your account. It doesn't matter who it's from or why they're sending it to you. I think those "rules" about not buying resales are just a guideline but security has no way of actually knowing where they were purchased unless they look through your phone's messages, which they have no right to do. I even heard a story from a person who said their tickets weren't scanning and the guard just let them in a side door anyway. So, I'd say go for it and good luck. Maybe let me know how it works out!
