I get your point but even if the algorithm is biased, streams, plays, and videos made on platforms like TikTok/Reels say otherwise. The audio use count for Abra on TikTok is 716.1k, almost a million, whereas Disease is at 70.8k, so no that’s not just the gays being soccer moms I’m sorry.

Also, a new pop Gaga song hasn’t been played on my local radio maybe since Applause probably, maybe ROM was played here and there. Now it’s finally happening with Abra, and for that song to be played here is a miracle :poot:

Well i didnt call it a flop and i said its doing well :enigma:

I merely am saying when u compare charts to what u see online, that algorithm bias does need to be taken into account thats all. It can give u an exagerated perspective if thats all u go off of

Id argue what u see on internet is an even worse reflection of how big a song is or isnt tho. At least charts take in real data like streams, digital sales and the controversial inclusion of radio

But internet now is so algorithmic and taylored to each person that what your seeing and are recomended does not necessairily reflect what most people are seeing. I get recomended Abra videos constantly but most have no more than 10k or 20k viewes. If most ppl were seeing that it would be way more. That tells me this abra fever is not universal (although all things considered its doing well overall)

Maybe its different where you live I dont know... but in my part of Canada at least, I can not say that many people know abracadabra and ive never heard a single person mention it or play it. Only yesterday i finally heard a non remix version on radio that doesnt mix it with another song. All popularity ive seen of the song has been purely online where I cant trust that what im seeing is what most others are seeing :oprah:

This is interesting, the power of algorithm certainly can skew perspectives of universal popularity! (…SUCH a DEEP topic actually, and such an influence on today’s culture.. scary actually …) - begs the question that maybe only the ‘overseers’ of our daily algorithms really know what’s truly popular by having all the data 🫢

At my local level (UK), I have non monster friends, who are all really different in music tastes - they all know (and like!) the song.. which gives me a bit of an indicator…. It gets radio play as well…

Anyway, collectively I do get the general ‘vibe’ this is growing as her most popular DANCE POP SOLO song for a long while…

Idk about never getting a GP hit again. I figured with the right radio friendly duet she could have a hit (although I didn’t think it would necessarily be as huge as DWAS). She could probably still even get a cute moderate solo hit with the right song.

But not a solo dance hit. (At least one that charted outside of dance charts) That’s damn impressive! Especially since she’s almost 40. Ageism is unfair but it’s alive and well. Abracadabra being a worldwide hit in 2025 is a testament to her fixture status in the music industry.

And a testament to smart marketing. Premiering it in a Grammy’s commercial (a program people watch over cable which means not *just young kids and chronically online folks) is smart. With algorithmic feeds, premiering something online is a crapshoot but finding a way to go directly to large swaths of people at a good part of the program (not too early or too late)? Very smart of her. That more than anything I think has helped it connect from the get go

i didnt flop, but peaking at number 19 isnt exactly a hit

and arguably for legacy artists and artists that have been huge for a long time, its the easiest time to get a number one hit. i think gaga fans just didnt stream it hard enough and her label didnt pay to spin it on radio.

plus the GP clearly like her shallow and die with a smile songs more now, ROM only hit number one cuz she put ari on it

Think it peaked at 13 on US Billboard. But it peaked top five all over the world, including the Global 200 singles chart. So, if we're only using that Billboard metric, it's a minor hit in the US and big hit world wide.

To be honest i don't know....it is a very good sign that it is getting so many views on youtube since few hits do that today. But it feels more like a moderate hit and that's it.

As of now, Bloody Mary is still a bigger hit than Abracadabra but we cannot deny the fact that Abra is Gaga's biggest solo single hit since Million Reasons streaming and popular wise.

keep on looking for Psyduck

13 is still not a hit

DWAS being number for several weeks and being in the top ten for months is a GP hit. abra is not even close. and yall need to stop being delulu about it

I would really appreciate it if you could vote for me. I would really like to get as many votes as possible. Can someone please help me? :)

No one said it was DWAS level hit. It's clearly not. Not even close.

I actually said it's a "minor hit" in the US based on it's top 13 peak, number of weeks in the top 40, radio numbers (should reach minimum top 10 in pop, top 40 overall AND it's growing fast), and streaming numbers (which are very good so far).

To me those metrics indicate, as I said, a minor hit.

Naturally, feel free to think it's a flop or whatever. But I think the song has the US receipts to correctly label it a minor hit there.

I also think it's pretty clear a worldwide hit (no minor needed!) by the charting numbers all over the world. But, again, feel free to disagree if you think the narrative tells a different story.

(Btw, if I was saying Disease was a minor hit? That would be delulu!)

Everyone knows Abracadabra. I don't think charts reflect the reality anymore.

I literally see it on so many random TikTok’s, I see people posting cover versions in different languages. I see all age groups making funny videos with it, every one of my non-Gaga friends know it, it has pervaded society and is a huge hit, and billboard does not know how to reflect this anymore.

Algorithms definitely feed you what you already know. I go on long droughts of artists, Gaga included, so the only thing I've heard from her without actively looking for it is DWAS which...I mean, YouTube shorts have all been ruined 'cause that song is on every sh*tty romcom clip, dog clip, feel good post, etc :ladyhaha:

However, nearly every person I know has heard Abracadabra enough to know the dance bit. So who knows.

🧡Should go home but the partysick wants me🧡
