Anderson123 41,837
Not “The One That Got Away” Mr. That peaked at #2 , it was Last Friday Night but they had to do the re-release with Part of Me to do that MJ record thing.
Gagasdisease 325
Hmm... I've always liked Katy and I hate hate-trains but this era was supposed to be her comeback and on top of working with Dr. Luke, the music was just not it... Very uninspired, the only song I'd go back to is the one with Doechii. I think she needs time to figure out how to actually evolve as an artist.. Brazilwood 4,331
How many more albums are gonna be "her comeback"? Paubrasilia echinata
PartySick 171,224
You can't bank on a "viral moment" happening, that is literally the worst plan to revive a struggling pop star's career Make good music and people will buy it. Dr Luke wasn't even a part of its failure outside of stan Twitter, the album just sucks Whimsical bitch
G U C C I 5,570
I truly see Katy as a huge artist for one specific period of time and that time has came and went. She shows zero signs of evolving and does not seem capable of continuously reinventing herself like Madonna or Beyoncé. And she does not have the talent to sustain a career track similar to Gaga or Cher before her. I find her personality annoying but I was happy to see her venture into reality tv. Good for her for maintaining some form of relevancy but I can’t imagine another big album or hit from her.
lasagna 3,183
i love delusion. saying shes gonna win a grammy at this stage is comical. her careers been on a steep downward trajectory for 10 years and shes just not clever enough, talented enough, or original enough to pull herself out of it. it'll probably reach a point of stable irrelevancy sometime but katy has proven time and time again things can always get worse
SS77 2,122
I’ve been saying it for years. I just think it’s time for her to strip the music down and rediscover her love and talent for guitar-driven song writing. If she’s still capable of writing an incredible song like “Thinking of You”, I genuinely think it could do wonders. We all know the GP loves Gaga doing rock ballads. Katy could absolutely capture that same type of musical wave. Those types of songs “reminds” the public that pop stars are talented songwriters and vocalists after all, and can truly rejuvenate public interest. Even Smile did well overall, with over 2 million units world wide.

4th Time Around 5,006
Katy is a perfect example of failing to read the room ever since Witness and the whole 143 era was painful to watch. I have good memories of her old hits and was rooting for her to beat the flop allegations and make a comeback. There was a lot of hype at first but she and her team proceeded to miscalculate at every turn. She needs to stop trying to force a hit by rehashing inferior versions of old sounds/themes and just make a good album that comes from a place of authencity. Anything could happen but I don't see how Katy really fits into a world where pop is more exciting than ever. The fact that the mainstream finally caught up to a pop artist as left field and influential in the underground as Charli XCX is reflective of the shift. Here is your throat back, thanks for the loan

Smile didn't have any hits and it flopped on charts, didn't debut #1 etc. Only her droplet singles that were added to the album carried its total units, thanks to HIH going viral on tiktok... But 143 for sure is astronomically worse than that.
BUtterfield 8 41,776
The fact that Chris thought that working with Dr. Luke, who is best known for being Katy’s producer on most of her hits and albums, again wasn’t gonna get her backlash is laughable. Look, I love 143. A lot of the songs are really good imo. The song with Doechii should’ve been a massive hit. But the GP and stans weren’t f*cking with it. WW as the lead single was an awful choice. It should’ve never been single. Hell it should’ve even not have made the album tbh. While I liked it lyrically it was outdated and the MV didn’t help either. IH,HM should’ve been the lead single followed by either Nirvana or Lifetimes. If Katy wants a hit she doesn’t need a “viral” moment. I don’t need Witness era tactics to ever make a comeback. What she needs to do is simply go back to her sound on her debut album and work from there. Don’t ever work with Dr. Luke again and fire Chris bc clearly he no longer has Katy’s best interests at heart with the way he discussed 143 and the rollout.
