Zombieboy should’ve been released last Halloween

I’m genuinely curious. The song is 100% GP-acceptable. Literally a perfect song, I have no notes. It would have smashed and become a Halloween classic.   

Somebody explain to me the reasoning.

Mayhem is a lot like The Fame in that no matter what she releases (single wise) there will always be other options that would also fit

Had she released it then, this thread would probably say "Disease/Abracadabra should have been released last Halloween"

That's a good thing though  it means the album is full of quality tracks that could make sense commercially

cus halloween isnt actually that big of a deal, not sure why people think its this huge promotional spot...

Maybe they only had budget for one MV and it had to go to Abra. And the one for Vanish Into You will be funded by Michael.

Probably because it was too obvious / cringe worthy to release a single with "zombie" in its title for Halloween

But it's one of my favorite songs from the album and I would love for it to have a MV / single treatment!

Well it catapults MJ to the top 50 or better every year with one song alone  hell, this past Halloween he was setting personal streaming records thanks to Halloween.

It's a huge holiday in the states, probably second only to Christmas.

I think Disease was the right choice. It created a good amount of hype since the sound was so "out there" for her. It was risky enough to make waves, it was heavy enough for LMs to get excited and her vocal performance is stellar. Zombieboy would have been one of the safest choices she and her team could have made - and i'm so happy she ain't a safe queen

Thank god the US ain't the center of the universe  no one really cares for Halloween in Europe, no idea about the rest of the world. And even if, the song will still be here next October 🤗

right but does anybody else actually benefit apart from MJ and Thriller?

i really can't think of anyone else who has a halloween hit the same way a few artists have christmas hits (AIWFCIY and Santa Tell Me ect)

Ok well the US is still a huge market so it doesn't hurt to try to get a song on everyone's Halloween playlists  

I can't imagine not having spooky month  every store filled with ghouls and cute critters, everyone from school teachers to old retirees understanding the assignment when October rolls around. All the houses decorated.

Yeah! Just look at any Halloween playlist  the only time a lot of those artists get massive amounts of streams are during Halloween.

Gaga probably gets a bump too. Monster, Bloody Mary, and Disease were in most playlists this past Halloween.

Disease would have been a LOT bigger (even viral) if the music video had danceable choreo that can be replicated in TikTok like Abracadabra. I will die on this hill.
