Which songs would you have teased in Paris?

I was so hyped when she teased Abracadabra and Perfect Celebrity because they sounded like she was going HARD for this album and we also got Disease months later completely fresh. Now looking back with all of the rest of the songs, would you have teased the same 2 snippets?

If it were me and wanted to keep the sound of it a bit of a secret I probably would've teased Zombieboy and Vanish Into You or Shadow of a Man but damn she knew we would get EDGED with the ones she picked.

I wouldn’t change the Paris snippets but I would have chosen Disease for the TCB Film snippet. Honestly I think she went with Shadow of a Man because they hadn’t picked the lead single and the song fits the MJ vibes from her little dance steps at the end of the show.

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

She really lied on the merchandise, I would’ve added Don’t Call Tonight instead of Perfect Celebrity cause that snippet doesn’t represent the song at all (nor the album)

She choose the best two for the direction she had back then, to introduce us to hard sounds she will explore like in first 4 songs on Mayhem, when Mayhem was still called Perfect Celebrity.

my guess is that she and/or Interscope decided to include DWAS and then she and the producers rearranged second half of the album and added retro/dance/disco basses to connect hard sounds of D, A, GoE and PC with last three songs. Then someone came up with the title Mayhem.

My biggest enemy is me.

I'm fairly sure that MAYHEM was 95% complete back when she teased those snippets, let's not feed into this fairytale idea that she changed directions to include Die With A Smile. At this point in time she was likely busy finishing Harlequin and getting ready for the Joker promo.

She knew the Monsters would eat up those particular 2 songs, she made them specifically for us, so her decision totally makes sense. Of course we can see in the long run that it was quite misleading, but so is the entire promo and visual identity of this record.

The first ever teaser was literally Shadow of a Man

Here we go with this nonsensical idea that she changed the entire album's direction based on DWAS :coffee:

All of her teases have been very consistent. You're saying that she changed the album b/c of DWAS, but we've had multiple teases that indicate the album wasn't going to exclusively have a industrial/alternative/electro-grunge sound:

- She teased Shadow of a Man, Zombieboy, and Garden of Eden before release
- She had multiple Instagram pics that hinted at a funkier/non-industrial sound (https://www.instagram.com/p/C13XXblriXe/?img_index=2, https://www.instagram.com/p/C15kqfvvD37/, https://www.instagram.com/p/C3WXAFjx2wD/)
- She spoke about "breaking genres" as early as the Chromatica Ball Film red carpet

She's already talked about how while she initially planned for the album to be more industrial/electro-grunge like Perfect Celebrity, it was actually Michael who suggested she do something else. It had nothing to do with DWAS or its performance.

I think Abra and Perfect Celebrity were good choices, but I personally would've picked one industrial/electronic song and one funky/disco/glam rock song to represent the two major sounds of the album.

Since Disease was the first single, I probably would've teased that in Paris to represent the industrial/electronic sound. As for the funky/disco/glam rock one, probably Zombieboy or Vanish Into You.
