they count only  16 most streamed songs but 2 with the most streamed are neutralised

The 2 album tracks attracting most streams are neutralised to the level of the average of the next 14 highest streamed tracks associated with the album (or all tracks where album has < 16 tracks).

Everything else is fine but raising the price, especially for digital albums, stupid and anti-consumer.

No one is buying digital albums except for fans who want to inflate chart positions…it’s 2025.

let's say
#1 most streamed song has 1000 stream - this song isn't counted as 1,000 but as an *average*of tracks 3—16 = 75 streams
#2 → 800 streams - this song isn't counted as 800 but as an *average* of tracks 3—16 = 75 streams
#3 → 140 streams
#4  130 streams
#5 120 streams
#6  110 streams
# 100 streams
#8 90 streams
#9  80 streams
#10  70 streams
#11 60 streams
#12  50 streams
#13  40 streams
#14   30 streams
#15   20 streams
#16  10 streams
song 17  5 streams (this song doesn't count, because it is not in the 16 most streamed tracks)

*average* of 3—16 = 75 streams

Ok I like that UK is much less prone to album bombs, but at the same time doing all that is pure data manipulation. In the end it wont represent true song consumption if they alter the top songs like that.

So billboard's solution is just to make fans to spend more money instead of not counting them since no one buys digital...

I don’t get why streams aren’t based on minutes of listening. I’m actually so surprised this hasn’t been enacted anywhere.
a 5 min song shouldn’t count the same as a 1 min song. They should be based on :15-30 sec intervals. This would stop the stupid trick of shortening every song

there will be more plastic. Only 4 "digital exclusive versions" will be allowed for the life of an album — she will now have 1328542 versions of CD

Expand

then they will limit the amount of physical cd variants. every time she has tried to cheat the system they caught on and came for her. it started with the merch bundles. then the digital variants... she needs to stop being so greedy basically.

The Fame Monster

Didn’t understand a word of that, but what I did gather is that Taylor’s gonna have to invent whole new strategies to stay on top next time.
