Swifties think that just because something charted high and broke records that it automatically means its good. It doesnt. It means its successful, not good necessarily. Made me lmao You summed it up well. Releasing 36 variants of TTPD across multiple formats to maintain chart dominance has nothing to do with quality. But I guess people create the reality in which they want to live.

socotra 3,245
VIY gives vibes like Flowers/Please Please Please/Birds of a Feather, I think it has the best shot of being a GP-supported hit (especially as a spring&summer song)
StrawberryBlond 14,472
I feared this when I saw those album stickers as well. Please don't do it, Gaga/Interscope. The song's grown on me somewhat but it's going to TANK as a single. It sounds like nothing that's popular right now, it's cute but doesn't actually go anywhere, you can't dance to it. We're about to head into the warm months, when people want happy dancey music, not sad mid-tempo stuff. This is the time for Garden of Eden and How Bad Do U Want Me, these songs are meant for this time of year and reactors loved them. If VIY must become a single, make it the very last one, when chart performance no longer matters. And maybe then, fans will realise that they don't always know best. CharlieQuinn 1,771
I'm going to support Gaga on this one. This song is beautiful and has potential and maybe that's what she wants to focus on it. I'm here for it
Perfect Celebrity 1,497
I believe VIY and GOE will be the last 2 singles and will mirror the success of the BTW era. BTW = DWAS Disease = Judas Abra=TEOG (she’s not done yet) VIY = Y&I GOE = MTN Edited 10 hours ago by Perfect Celebrity

27monster27 12,221
Vanish Into You is a good single idea for sure. It has hit potential, but not too obvious which makes it more unique. I agree with other people that Zombieboy and Shadow of a Man are good single choices too. he/him/his

Chart positions can be deceiving. Just because it charted the second best out of all the tracks in the US doesn't mean it's a good single choice, just that a lot of fans streamed it on the debut week and fans are listening to all the tracks because they're fans. I also think that the repeated mentions of the song before release and its inclusion on album stickers implanted the idea that it was a good song in fans minds before they even heard it and that positive reinforcement was there going into it. I know it was one of those songs that I thought was going to be a big fave before I heard it based on the title alone. You know what they say: sometimes, when a song is a big fan fave, that's a sign that it's not going to be a good single choice. Which is why so many fans hate HBDUWM! But there's no denying the public love a Swift-esque bop!

Its funky and fun and if she releases this in time for Coachella, maybe it will take off by summertime It’s also gonna sound great at a festival. It’s a great track for that

How is it a sad song? it’s arguably among the more overtly happy on the album. Tbh I also think it sounds a LOT like stuff Sabrina carpenter and chappel are putting out and other pure pop. It just is bigger bc of Gaga’s voice and theatricality but the sound feels very of the moment. I think it’s the most obvious single for summer; it’s got top down driving written all over it

I think it’s the most obvious single for summer; it’s got top down driving written all over it How is it NOT a sad song? It's about reminiscing over a past love and wishing you could go back in time and be with them, but in a sad, melancholy way because you know you can't. I mean "it was cold in the summertime, we were happy just to be alive" makes me go a bit misty-eyed and she even sounds sad and maudlin when she sings "can I vanish into you?" The verses are too artsy for the public too, even I don't know what "sirens blow past our heads" means. How does it sound like something Sabrina would make? She makes breezy summery songs about sex, HBDUWM sounds like something she'd make. Sounds a bit more like Chappell, granted, but not as anthemic and campy. HBDUWM is what a summer single sounds like, that song is happy and pure sunshine. Maybe I'm utterly wrong about this but I just feel it's a massive mistake making it a single. And if it flops, there's a huge chance it could impact how far the album's promo campaign can go from here. Disease flopped, Abra massively underperformed, we can't risk a third consecutive single tanking. The next choice has to be right. And it has to be safe. Garden of Eden and HBDUWM are the best summer options. If both those songs become singles, I'll be happy. VIY can come at the end, if all else fails, but not right now. We have to give the public what they want and it's not this. I hope Gaga does indeed read GGD so she can see some dissenting opinions.
