Anderson123 37,463
I think Kendrick has a great shot at winning now that they have those 13k Recording Academy members. It's going to be like Beyoncé with a win that they owe to him for so many other albums he should've won for. Mayhem will be lucky to even be nominated for Album of the Year, look at A Star Is Born. hijadeputa 3,833
Don’t underestimate the power of Gaga guys. Some say here that they pick the most commercially successful album for AOTY, but look at Bey with CC, that album didn’t have a big commercial success. Everything can happen and I think everything is possible. Gaga and her team should focus on keep building longevity with MAYHEM and Abra. Abra is doing more than fine still top 20 on Spotify worldwide and with copacabana and Coachella coming up we should be safe.

It doesn’t need more hits (although they are obviously welcomed), but just a big presence. Something that everyone and their mother can say “oh yeah Gaga was EVERYWHERE this year!”.

Yes and she is on a very good way being already everywhere this year so far. I’d love another single being a hit from the album tho. We will see what happens

Because the album is anything but memorable, and it has only one moderate hit and it is far from being one of the best selling albums of the year. Yet, it still won AOTY Which let's be real made no sense. Billie was right there and I'm not a Billie fan, but he had a huge year and Birds Of A Feather is immaculate. Billie (and any other pop album) lost because there were four other pop albums in the mix. The Pop voters split between her, Taylor, Chappell, Sabrina and Charlie XCX. It caused her to lose enough votes to not be the front runner. Sometimes the mix of nominees can already tell you how things are gonna go down based on how many albums of each genre are nominated. A Star is Born had 5 amazing songs and the rest was very mid I think Mayhem is a much better body of work, definitely worthy of an AOTY nomination and potentially a win (depending on other releases this year) Let's be honest, Grammy's Awards are a lot about politics and genre groups. For example, if there are 3 different rap/hip hop nominated albums but there is little pop competition, it wouldn't be shocking that Mayhem won the award There are so many variables... We need to wait and look at album longevity, the next singles, promo, the tour and general "aura" of the era up until the end of the year Yes, Kendrick Lamar's album is the frontrunner for now, but let's see... Voters already heavily rewarded him this year so they might be less inclined to vote again for him, especially if there are other rap albums nominated

My theory is ASIB got nominated for AOTY on straight vote but then the committee that existed back then blocked it and gave Gaga a SOTY nod as a consolation prize

Not sure about ASIB, I think it just went by voters' head and didn't make it for real but it was a surprise.

Similar to how Fortnight got a ROTY nom and DWAS did not. Because an artist cannot be nominated more than one in the Pop Duo categories, and they nominated Post Malone with Beyonce, they gave TSwift a consolation price by nominating Fortnight in ROTY and probably removed DWAS, which was the last song to be released and has not peaked at that time. It was easier to exclude although my unpopular opinion is that ASIB is not aoty worthy lol. It just has Shallow, ARUTW and Is That Alright. Everything else is just normal movie music. This year is shaping up to be incredibly weak in Pop fields. If they can replicate a similar LFS Campaign we should be golden. Its almost impossible that no Pop records are nominated for aoty, and even with Miley Cyruses and Ed Sheeran imminent releases, out of sheer name Gaga is still pulling up ahead in Pop, Edited March 20 by andy232000
