retrosexual123 905
It feels new and a classic at the same time. I think it’ll stand the test of time and become a true, classic Gaga album.
DSK 611
It keeps getting better and every week I have a new favorite from the album, which means all songs are powerful in different ways.

Omegahedron 190
In a word: bravo In two words: chef's kiss Utterly DEVASTATED .... that Can't Stop The High didn't make the main cut. It's amazing. I only got to it today. And it's just perfect. Would happily substitute it for DCT (the only true skip for me). Other than that. Don't get the hate for Killah. It's easily one of the best songs on the album.
Battle 4 Ur Life 6,713
for me it’s ARTPOP’s little sister, totally different than her sis but got the same heavenly genes. even the couple “epiones” in the latter half bring a lot of charisma and nostalgic references. because the rest of the record contains her absolute best songs in more than 10 years without a single doubt. I haven’t listened to anything else for the past week. I played some Elton John and Bee Gees, checked out a couple of Jennie’s tracks and listened to a few of my favorites playlist but go straight back to Mayhem and now I’m listening to it without Dolby Atmos. I’m gonna have to put it into quarantine next week so I don’t overplay. it was absolutely worth the wait. “Fantastic, chic, freak, slay.”
Matt 460
I have to say, I was a bit disappointed on my first play. It's definitely a grower of an album, but it is not my favorite Gaga album as I hoped it would be. I feel the visuals, Disease and Abracadabra don't really match the vibe of the rest of the album. I KNOW Gaga said it would be a mix of genres, but I feel like she always says stuff like that . I LOVE Disease, and I think enough time has passed for me to say it's my favorite Gaga song yet. I love Abracadabra as well, but was hoping for more hard hitting songs like Disease. Perfect Celebrity is a standout for me, although I think the chorus sounds a bit dated. I appreciate Prince, Michael Jackson, and David Bowie and I like songs from all of them, but that's not the type of music that I listen to regularly. I could do without the Bowie guitar on this album. I'll stop now, because I don't want this to sound too negative, because it really is a great body of work, and I am so happy to see Gaga as happy as she has been recently. I can't wait for Coachella My top 5: Disease Abracadabra Perfect Celebrity Killah Vanish Into You Honorable mentions: Shadow of a Man and LoveDrug 2
vmpiregrn 996
It was a grower but once I set aside my expectations I really dove in and I love it. As a little kid I grew up on a lot of 70’s and 80’s music, particularly goth and new wave stuff, and she masters a lot of those sensibilities on this album. I never thought the chubby ten year old goth girl that loved Siouxsie and the Banshees, Nine Inch Nails and Bauhaus would grow up to see her favorite pop star put out a record that exists in the same sonic universe as those sorts of artists (who were all heavily inspired by Bowie, Prince etc).

I do understand your opinion and doesn’t sound negative. Every time there’s a new Gaga song and album we have a different reaction to it. Sometimes it switches or evolves etc. i was also surprised when I listened to it for the first time and SCARED that I wouldn’t love it because it’s not what I thought it’d be. Time has passed and I am obsessed with it, it’s such a massive project and appreciate it so much more now.

It’s one of my favorites from her in a while. that being said, I do feel like this album is a bait and switch. Like I knew she said this album was a mix of genres so I’m not bothered that it’s not fully dark pop, but it’s mainly just disco/funk pop with a couple dark pop songs. It’s not really varied like she claimed. I thought there would be more variety by how she described it. Hearing the album now, all imagery and album shoot doesn’t really match the vibe. I’m overjoyed by the bait and switch. I was dreading the overly dark pop, especially after Disease (only song on the album I do not listen to). Then she surprised us and I’m so happy because I truly love the album.
LadyxGaGa 1,915
i was all about zombieboy and shadow of a man but vanish into you is that girl and no one can tell me otherwise also i kinda like how dark the lyrics are with the rly upbeat melodies its giving me lily allen - alright, still
thetorturedlovers 65
It’s a solid pop record that sounds very familiar to Gaga’s early work, the production sound a little bit dated and the hooks are not quite as catchy as they could have been. The vocal performance is captivating and fun. The lyrics are below average, they are very generic and bland. Overall score: 6.9/10 1
primalinea 69
I respect that everyone has different tastes, likes different things, and I’m also happy that many people got exactly what they wanted from this album. I can’t put into words how much I was looking forward to this album. As much as I anticipated it, it turned out to be just as much of a disappointment. But honestly, I already had a feeling in the week leading up to its release that this would be the case. I love Disease and Abracadabra, and the impression these two singles gave was very misleading—even though Gaga had already stated that the album would be a mix of many different genres. I think that was an exaggerated claim, much like the album covers and the photoshoot. Unpopular opinion, but my favorite Gaga album is Chromatica, which was also a disappointment upon release because it didn’t deliver the hard-hitting sound I had hoped for. However, over time, I grew to love it because I’m a huge fan of house, techno, and dance music. I really hoped that Mayhem would make up for the fact that the final version of Chromatica didn’t turn out the way its demos had initially suggested—especially since Disease and Abracadabra seemed to hint in that direction. Well, unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. That being said, Mayhem is still a very good album, but it doesn’t satisfy my personal taste. While I do enjoy listening to it, every single time I play it, I can’t shake off the feeling of disappointment—like, this is what I waited so long for? And now I have to wait who knows how long for the next album. Even the Gesaffelstein tracks didn’t deliver what I expected from them, and I’m really disappointed that Gaga didn’t collaborate with Burns again. I truly hope she works with Zhone on her next album. While Mayhem is, in some ways, deserving of the AOTY title, for me, the album of 2025 so far is Louder, Please by Rose Gray. 2
Vimo 1,018
After a week, I can state this album is not the album I was waiting for, but it's an album I love. And the lack of hard industrial sound made me search for other artists to fill my craving. So it's fine.

Overall score: 6.9/10 As crazy as it sounds, I actually believe that the lyrics on this album are her best I made a thread that flopped about her style of writing/narrative on this album. It's between the litteral truth, fantasy and deeper subtexts... To make it quick, she repeats some specific words in multiple songs which create some sort of obsession and set a whole settings. Sometimes it's unclear to get who's the narrator, it's inspired by post-modern litterature. That's blurry on purpose. This is why the album is called Mayhem, she keeps seeking for her identity and for love. The songs are connected to each others. And the story starts with Stefani feeling absolutely bad, then building her Lady Gaga persona by working hard on it... Then she turn into some sort of werewolf lost constantly seeking for love. This ends happily cause she accepts her nature and find the true love. ...I checked your profile, are you sure that you are a Little Monster ? Edited March 16 by Kayi I'm here to take a break from university homeworks :/
AiDi 209
The thing is, that is not the type of music I listen to now. I love electronic music, so this album is not for me in a long term. But that's not her problem. It is a solid pop album. 4
