Lady Gaga is on the mend following a lengthy and painful battle with fibromyalgia.

“It’s very under control. It took over my life for a long time, but I’m 95 percent better,” Gaga, 38, told The Sunday Times in a profile published on Sunday, March 9. “I still have pain days, but they are very rare. I feel lucky.”

She added,  “People do not always make it through the career and the success that I have had. They don’t always get to the other side, given how it can affect your mental health and body. But I did.”

But what's the reason for that? I thought this is an uncontrollable uncurable disease

It is uncurable, but it's not uncontrollable. Adequate management of it can help to minimize the symptoms in some people, luckily Gaga is in that group

It is incurable, but it’s manageable, but the battle is finding out what works best for you.

My sister has fibromyalgia and hasn’t had a painful episode since she started exercising, taking cold showers every morning and anti-depressants.

In my messy era.

i know the nurtec post is being silly but i actually think that could be true?

fibrom is kind of like migraines, migraines affect everyone differently and also can cause the same symptoms, also it's pretty much unknown what causes them

i may be way off but i've always assumed the whole reason she did the nurtec thing was probably because it's helped her fibromyalgia..? I thought that was kinda obvious :cryga:

My sister has it too, and it’s a very tricky disease indeed. Some days she’s amazing, other days she can barely sleep bcs of the pain. She’s on a lot of anti depressants and other medication. She works out too but can’t overdo it bcs the smallest wrong movement can send her whole body into a state of immense pain

Being happier certainly helps, those kinda pain usually triggered by your mental state, stress and depression can worsen and make flare ups happen more often. So, I am so happy that she is content now, with life and love.

A lot of chronic illnesses can improve if well managed despite not being cured

Examples:

- asthma

- ibs

- chrons disease

- diabetes

None of them are curable yet you can reduce the symptoms and severity considerably

And also, useful treatments generally cost a lost of money and require a lot of professional help. Not everyone has that.
