MAYHEM: Similarities with other songs

We can all agree that MAYHEM feels nostalgic for all of us because it references some classics (like David Bowie, Prince or even herself ) In order to list all those references together, I've created a thread on Twitter which includes some of the references I could think of:

"Vanish Into You" doesn't sound like a specific song to me, but it sure reminds me a lot of a Panic! at the Disco song. The sweeping vocals are amazing!

"Killah" is obviously very Bowie inspired, almost sounds like "I'm Afraid of Americans".

The "Zombieboy" intro sounds like the "Hollaback Girl" intro but the rest of the song reminds me so much of "Disco Heaven" and "Retro Physical".

And once again, not an exact song, but "Shadow Of A Man" has heavy Michael Jackson vibes.

Very good point! Didn't catch Disco Heaven and Zombieboy. I've also seen some people say the verses on Shadow of a Man sounds like Telephone and I can kinda hear it as well

The beast sounds 60% like Leonas Bleeding Love and 40% like a Michael Jackson Song to me.

Blade Of Grass includes that one chord progression that 80% the industry has already used, so I didn't include it in the thread 😭

Maybe it’s me but is she reusing the same melody in the chorus from Bad Romance in Vanish Into You? The “Ahh” part?

never mind think that’s what you highlighted. Also think Zombieboy interpolates the guitar from Let’s Dance by Bowie
