Because Japan is the world's second-largest music market measured in $, they are loyal CD buyers and a big source of revenue. The good bonus track has the function to prevent the Japanese from importing the cheaper overseas CDs on the black and niche markets, and buy their expensive Japanese version.

Japanese CDs cost signifcantly more than American Cds.

It is also  a smart move, because some fans from the Western world will import the expensive Japanese version after already having bought international Mayhem, so they can be charged twice.
