What's stopping Gaga from being more direct?

So, the thread title is a question that came to mind last night after watching her interview with Zane Lowe. Did anyone else notice how many times she felt the need to clarify that she's grateful and appreciates her career & where it has taken her? I understand being humble is a virtue but also I feel like we, as her fans, could be more accommodating in letting her be more direct, don't you think?

I would TRULY appreciate her talk about how her stardom and overall fame actually suck and hurt her. Just seeing her entering that restaurant the other day with Michael surrounded by tens of exiliarated paparazzi was enough to remind me how repulsive being famous can be. I feel like she's been put in a position where she's afraid that by speaking out she'd be deemed ungrateful, she'd aliente us, etc, which is totally untrue. I'd rather hear her talk openly about it. Fame does take away a lot, it took a lot from her as can be seen from that interview, she really misses those "simpler" times, it seems, when Gaga just meant an artist rather than a whole industry/pop star/icon.

In a nutshell, talking about the disadvantages and sacrifices of fame =/= being ungrateful for the opportunities it's brought upon. I hope she'll feel confident soon to talk openly about it. What's your take?

We fans get that but most people drag famous people (specially influencers) when they complain, even if the complaint is valid, under the argument “they have it easier” than the average worker.

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

Personally I don't feel she needs to talk about it, its all coming out through her artistry as we can see with Mayhem.

I feel that she's finally accepting her past and possibly that she desired celebrity/fame from the start but in turn she didn't realise how much a of difficult and isolating thing that would be.

Good news is now she can appreciate and be grateful for all the opportunities it gave her (lifestyle, fans, eventual love and normalcy) but for that to exist you have to also be grateful for all the negative things that transpired.

But that's not necessarily true, is it? I mean, not being able to have a normal chill meal outside is ridiculous for the average person and yet famous people don't have that "luxury". Yes, they have many other luxuries but they lose access to a lot of simple things in life. For Gaga it must be being unable to talk with somebody normally. All those flashlights, screams "I LOVE YOU MOTHER", etc. yeah it may seem funny initially but can a person realistically endure this all the time? It's like we isolate them only to rip them apart afterwards that they're not relatable. Well, society deprives you of that normalcy. And we always redeem this as ''it's what she wanted, she's not allowed to complain".

Yeah, my point is that we get that but most of the public doesn’t and that’s why she can’t be more direct.

I'm excited to hear the album tonight and see how she reflects on that. I was left with the impression that she truly was angry at herself for wanting fame so much and it'll be part of the album.

Ja, I noticed that too and it made me really sad tbh because you could see it comes from a place of hurt and I don’t want her to be hurt 🥲 I also believe it’s something many people with success experience (eventho the level differs) and that it’s something you have to work on with your therapist. All we can do is love her, be kind and open the safe space she’s creating for us back for her as well

I just think you're off the mark on this. I think she is being most honest in how she answers these questions. She really is grateful, and that is a part of the reality she's in now. She did want this, she is grateful, and it has also taken so much from her.

I'm not saying she's dishonest. It just feels like she doesn't address it directly so my thought went to "how can we signal that it's okay for her to acknowledge her pain and frustration with fame calmly and be confident that she won't be judged or dismissed for it".

sorry, yeah, I meant to say I don't think she would agree that she feels like she "has to" say these things, and I don't think she feels like she would be judged or dismissed if she didn't include the "disclaimers." I just think she expresses it that way because she likes to actually communicate the duality of it, it's important to her.
